2016 NCAA tournament thread

Arizona got screwed. They have to come to Providence, might get a dangerous Vanderbilt team in the first round, and then have to play Miami in the second round.
Such a shame ...

Re: 2016 NCAA tournament thread

This used to be one of my favorite sporting days of the year. Now, I couldn't care any less. I could try, but I don't think it would work. I can't even tell you who the two best teams are, though I suspect UNC might be there.

The rest of college basketball is lucky Kim Anderson and the mighty Mizzou Tigers decided to self-exclude themselves. They were ready to make a run.

What Frank Haith did to that program is unconscionable. And here he is, in the tournament with another team. How do you look at yourself in the fucking mirror?

CBS has turned selection Sunday into a sports version of the Jerry Springer Show. Clark Kellogg and Doug Gottlieb at least know what they're talking about, but there's no reason for CBS to waste air time on Kenny Smith going through the brackets so he can boldly predict his alma mater to win the championship, or Ernie Johnson asking Charles Barkley if he knows whether Farleigh Dickinson was a man or a woman.

Oregon pulled a 1 seed. I'm still in disbelief. They have a solid team and with the field being as weak as it is overall this year, they have a chance to cut down nets. I'm just shocked the committee put them that high.

Brooks gets most of the ink, but the barometer for that team almost always is how well Chris Boucher plays. If he's active and blocking shots in the middle of their zone, they win. If he gets in foul trouble or loses his motivation, then they're a below average team defensively.

You were partly correct.  Had to come to Providence.  Got a more dangerous Wichita State team and wont have to worry about the 2nd round.

The next time someone tells me about a "dry heat," I'm going to think of Sean Miller.  How has he survived Arizona if he can lose 8 pounds of sweat in Providence?  Was he trying to make weight for a wrestling match?

Dern shame, ain't it?
It's always sunny and 70 degrees in Providence, even when it not.

Re: 2016 NCAA tournament thread

So far? 13/18 and counting. Every one of the 5 losses were teams i had bouncing out in the second round as well so my total point possibility is literally the entire points possible (minus 5).

Re: 2016 NCAA tournament thread

Well the next tournament coming in now. My Oregon homer bracket is mostly in tact (God damn you Michigan State....).

In truth, I just want Oregon to keep winning. I don't care about anything else

Re: 2016 NCAA tournament thread

I still have my champion - Oklahoma - alive. I'm the only one in my pool who has the Sooners to win it all, so I might see some cash if they go all the way, but otherwise there's a lot of red ink on my sheet.

Re: 2016 NCAA tournament thread

If Oregon can get through Duke, they would most likely meet Oklahoma. I'll worry about that after the Duke game if necessary.

Re: 2016 NCAA tournament thread

Iowa State's loss dropped me to ninth, but if Oklahoma wins two more games, I vault to the top of the table.

Re: 2016 NCAA tournament thread

I was very scared of Nova after watching what they did to an Oklahoma team that I knew first hand was really good.... That was an amazing finish, and made up for the final four being the most lopsided boring play in the tournament...

He could have drove it deeper and I expected him to.  I basically only watched the last 7 minutes of the champ game.  Thats all the ncaa basketball I watched this year.  I got my moneys worth.

Well, you picked the right seven minutes. We were talking at work yesterday about how the game really didn't get going until there were between 10-12 minutes left. Before then, there were a lot of missed shots, which is all too typical for what passes for basketball these days. The only shots kids take these days are dunks and 3-pointers. The 12-15 foot jump shot and almost any kind of offense that starts with the player's back to the basket has become anachronistic. That shit don't get you on SportsCenter.
