I know I've been watching hockey for a lot longer than usual, but I caught the Bautista/Odor highlight.
I know Odor will get some time for it, but did anyone else crack a smile when he knocked the fillings out of Bautista's teeth? I literally said, "Well that was bound to happen...." And I smiled.
Just me?

I hear what you're saying, but I also thought it was pretty chicken shit on the part of Texas' manager to wait until the last game the teams would play this season to hit Bautista. You could have hit him anytime in the previous games between the teams. Doing it in the last game is a bit of a "bitch move" in my opinion.

I don't understand all the hostility toward what Odor did. We've seen twice late last season what can happen with late slides, and they even changed the rules to prevent players from getting hurt.
If Bautista has a problem with getting stuck in the ribs, than confront the pitcher, not the second baseman who's half a foot shorter (but apparently knows how to handle himself ... surprise, Joey).
Or better yet, don't flip the bat and show up the Rangers in the first place.
But, yes, the Rangers should have addressed this the first time they played Toronto this year, not the last. Gibbons is correct about that part of it.

To be clear, I don't have an issue with Odor protecting himself. It was a terrific punch. The size difference isn't that great though. Odor (5'11, 195) and Bautista (6'0, 205) are probably in the same weight class.

Really ...
Maybe it just seems that way because Bautista has hit 50 homers.

It was a great punch. I like that someone landed a punch in a mlb fight. All to often it is a pushing match and pretend hostility.
I do agree it was chicken shit to wait till the end of the season series but it should make for an interesting 2017 matchup.
Wasnt it matt bush that threw the hbp? That sort of dumb imo. A rookie that just got called up after being released from prison for running over the head of a 72 year old while drunk.
I likes the blue jays plunking fielder and get one more jab in.
Maybe im old fashion or not politically correct enough but that was damn good entertainment.

One would assume that Bush is still under some sort of probationary period after being released from prison last year. I wonder if being involved in a baseball brawl, or even sticking a 95 mph fastball in another player's ribs, would constitute an assault that would violate the terms of his probation.

I would assume the hbp was ordered or talked about by players. I wouldnt think a player that wasnt even on the team at the time would be that involved. Imo, it was talked about and matt bush (who seems like a real dick) took it upon himself to pull the trigger. If it wasnt for having a thug on the team this situation may have never happend.

Maybe, but until I hear or read differently, I can't think Bush did this on his own. He may be a dick, but he knows this is probably his last chance and if he takes matters into his own hands and ends up getting Odor suspended for eight games, he's off the team.
Then again, he's a moron who ran over a guy's head and was so torn up about it he went to a strip club. He may have hit Bautista because he thought he might win over his teammates.
