Some excerpts from Goold's chat on Monday:
• 80 percent chance of Holliday returning next season. He'll likely be signed to an extension to allow him to finish his career with the Cardinals. Later in the chat, a poster actually revived the "Holliday isn't clutch" theory.
• Delvin Perez's ceiling is J.J. Hardy. Not exactly what I was hoping for. Third round pick Zac Gallen, a RHP from UNC, figures to be the quickest riser among the draft class.
• Expect the Cardinals to be active when the international signing period re-boots on July 2.
• The Cardinals consistently and repeatedly denied Wong would ever play centerfield in their organization ... until he showed up in that spot on Memphis' lineup card the other night.
• Jordan Walden (is that his first name? I can't remember) is rehabbing on his own, in Texas, without much communication with the organization.
• The possibility of Lance Lynn pitching in a major league baseball game at some point this season has not been dismissed.
• Someone asked if the Angels would trade Mike Trout for a package of Wong, Grichuk and Reyes.

I agree and think holliday will get a pass on the business side of things and this will be a feel good move.
The cards denied that waino would pictch the year after tj, denied holliday would move to first base. I think there credibility is shot.
No brainer for the angles.

JJ Hardy was a great defender at one point in his career. If Perez's upside is the guy who hit 50 home runs between 2007 and 2008 and played spectacular defense, that's a pretty good guy to have. If it's the guy who gets hurt all the time...meh.
But I've not read a single scouting report that indicates Perez is going to be a power hitter like Hardy. His upside is that of an elite defender with average offense across the board. So maybe something like Andrelton Simmons in 2013.

I read something somewhere comparing Perez to Francisco Lindor (in terms of his upside). A player drafted for plus-plus defensive tools and athleticism. That would be an absolute home run of a pick if his upside is anywhere close to that.

What am I missing here? Fister is throwing an 87 mph fastball with almost no movement.

Not much of a response either way for Raz.

Well that was a terrible game. 15-17 at home. Matheny falls asleep in the 8th and lets Moss hit against a guy who is only in the league to get his type out.

Carlos Gomez is hitting about .135 and he killed the Cardinals tonight.
