Tracking J-Hey's amazing run!

As of 4/18/2016
9/44 (.205) 2 doubles, 1 stolen base, 0 HRs.

His replacement (Hazelbaker) seems to be doing okay filling these enormous shoes.
13/33 (.394) 3 doubles, a triple, 3 homeruns, 2 stolen bases.

We'll have to update this, then I'll put together some numbers.
Millions per win over replacement value.
Millions per hit
Millions per homerun
etc etc

Yes indeed sir, that's going to be the point of the entire thread. All Heyward has to do is keep playing like he's playing now.

Re: Tracking J-Hey's amazing run!

I don't know how much of yesterday's game you watched, but Horton predicted Heyward will receive unkind reception from the crowd tonight.

Re: Tracking J-Hey's amazing run!

As much as I would like to believe Heyward is going to be garbage all season long, I'm not counting on it. He was even worse to start 2015.

As he should.

Re: Tracking J-Hey's amazing run!

It will be interesting to see what the reaction is for Lackey. Independently, and not at the start of the first series of the season, there would probably be a moderately-negative or even mixed response, but he may get swept up in the anti-Heyward noise tonight.

Re: Tracking J-Hey's amazing run!

Lackey doesnt bother me.  Cards never went after him and he didnt say anything at all on his way out.

The heyward thing is going to be interesting for me.  I havent rooted against someone with spitefulness in a while.

Re: Tracking J-Hey's amazing run!

It's time for an update!!!

As of today our 190 million dollar man is hitting .211 (19/90). 4 of those have been doubles!

He has yet to put the ball over the fence in fair territory.

I'd like to see him fall flat on his face for mouthing the Cardinals...

Re: Tracking J-Hey's amazing run!

AP there's no place I'd rather have Heyward than right there in the heart of the Cubs plans batting that .212 with no power, and costing them 17.5 million in base salary, plus the signing bonus.

I'm not mouthing him, in fact, I hope the Busch faithful give him a standing ovation. It could have been so much worse for us... Imagine our team with Jason Heyward on a 200M contract kicking Hazelbaker out of our outfield so he could play like he has? We'd be running close to last in the division.

Re: Tracking J-Hey's amazing run!

I dont usually want player to fail.  I didnt pujols but heyward i do.  It would be funny if he fsils for 3 or 4 years and doesnt opt out.  I still think thats probably not going to happen

Re: Tracking J-Hey's amazing run!

Coming to midseason! J-Hey has played in 79 games! Our slugger has managed to get 4 balls to clear the wall, and has a very solid .243 average. His numbers across the board are pretty substandard, making it really look like he totally is a 15HR 60 RBI guy who might hit .260

That's a hell of a lot of money to give someone with the offensive powers of Johnny Giavotella.... I hope he's playing some SERIOUSLY amazing defense up there.

I'm guessing the discussion with AP about his opt outs will be a moot argument, because unless J-Hey is a complete moron, he's not opting out of anything.

And if he does have a couple of decent years im sure the cubs would gladly watch him go.

Im not a defensive metric guy.  I dont get it.  I do wonder how piscotty and heyward match up.  Heyward has a great arm but outside of that i dont see alot of difference.

In fairness, I'll bet he's hit a lot more than 4 balls that cleared the wall

Most of them, however, were foul.
