Apparently some d-bag op-Ed writer for CNN led a last minute push to get Michael Phelps to pass on being the flag bearer in favor of the black Muslim fencing chick who competes in a hijab. It isn't clear whether the message Reached Phelps, but if it did, he ignored it.
The other big moment of the opening night has been Gissele Bunschen. Didn't realize she was Brazilian, but she received a huge ovation.
