Re: 8/17 GC

So if you sign Bruce, bring back Moss and let Holliday walk, the regulars could be:

C- Molina
1B- Moss
2B- Carpenter
SS- Diaz
3B- Peralta
LF- Bruce
CF- Grichuk
RF- Piscotty

Interesting group.

Fors is on it wrt Moss' salary.

Garcia drives me nuts, but he has a $12 million option. With uncertainty surrounding Wainwright, Leake, Wacha, Cooney, Gonzales and Weaver/Reyes being inexperienced, you can do a hell of a lot worse than Garcia for $12 million.

I want to see what happens with Grichuk before I make a prediction on what they will do. He has seemingly embraced the grip-and-rip approach and if he is a .230 hitter with 20+ homer potential, that's a guy you take into next season as your starter.

I like the idea of Jay Bruce - but as a left fielder.

If grichuk is a .230 hitter with 20+hrs is that much different then you should reasonably expect from moss?  I dont think so. Grichuk is a hell of alot better outfielder then moss.

I think moss has a really good value this year looking at the market.  He and bruce are the only players work a 3 year deal with middle of the order capability.  Thats for 15 million plus a year imo.

Yeah i like that.  Hopefully the front office spend the cash on both.  Id like to see that.  They could save some money by unloading adams and wong.

I like the bruce idea and agree with tk on Garcia.

Re: 8/17 GC

Better scratch Bruce. He has a $13 million team option that I am almost positive the Mets will pick up.

My way-too-early predictions for the offseason are a) picking up Garcia's option b) re-signing Moss c) trading two of Peralta, Wong and Adams d) moving Wacha to the bullpen e) trading for Evan Longoria.

Edwin Encarnacion and Jose Bautista will also be on the market this off-season.  Encarnacion's value is somewhat limited in that he's now really only a DH, so that takes half of the teams off the market.  But he's hit 30+ HR and 100+ RBI in each of the past 5 seasons.  He's going to get paid.

Bautista will be more interesting.  His numbers have been fantastic until this season, but he's been hurt most of this season and his average has dropped dramatically (though his OBP is still decent).  Bautista will be 36 this off-season, but he'd still command more than Moss.

I doubt the Cardinals would go after either, and I suspect both stay in the AL, but those are the 2 premiere names this off-season.

Cotts has him listed as a free agent without an option on their list but on his individual page he has an option.  I assune ur right on it.

I agree those are the big names i listed.  Id put moss right behind them.  Like you said maybe ahead of edwin just because some teams can use him.  So moss is the first or second best hitter on the market.  Holliday and josh reddick rank someplace close behind.  It is much of a marker and i could see that driving moss' cost up.

Pitching is weak to.  Garcia would fetch a good contract in this market imo.

Re: 8/17 GC

I guess ian desmond would be around or slightly higher then moss' worth and trumbo is a edwin repeat on the marker.  Cespedas will also be back on the market.  He will be top of the list  it imo the cardinals missed the boat on him.
