With the caveat I never got to watch Brooks Robinson in his prime, Scott Rolen is the best third baseman I've ever seen. Arenado is at the same level.

I think rolen was underrated.  He really was something to watch.

The "Hunger Games" tone after a visiting player strikes out is really, really creepy.

Enough people who have been watching a lot longer than I have said Brooks Robinson is the best defensive player ever at any position. He won something like 15 Gold Gloves in a row and he almost singlehandedly beat the Reds in the 1970 World Series with his defense. Everything they hit to the left side ended up in his glove.

During rolens playing career i often heard him compared to mike schmidt.  I am to you to have seen schmidt play.

As far as players i have watched on a daily (cardinals) basis rolen, molina, edmonds and pujols were the best defensive players, in that order.  I included pujols because of his aggressiveness and ablity to make a difference at a non impact position. I seen ozzie play toward the end of his career but wasnt aware enough to evaluate what i saw.

Ozzie is still top of the list. He just had so much range. I've always said Omar Vizquel is the second best shortstop I've ever seen, but I'd have to think about it now because Andrelton Simmons is in that class.
Terry Pendleton was a darn good third baseman, too.
Keith Hernandez was terrific at first base. Nobody covered as much ground on a sac bunt.

Re: 9/19 GC

Cards need to get greedy vs the rockies.  If course they have pulled off 3 in a row and moved into a tie for the 2nd wild card spot.  That means tonight they will stepnon thier dicks.  The mets will lose and the giants win.

Cards have played the cubs good this year. Clearly the Cardinals have something to play for and the Cubs do not.  However if i was the cubs id want to keep from facing the cardinals in the playoffs.

Then it is on to face the reds.  A team the cardibals have no business losing to.  So they will.
