"Let's wait for tomorrow and react then," general manager John Mozeliak toldDerrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "We're obviously hoping for the best."

Assume Wacha gets first crack at the rotation. Morning news is saying Rosenthal might get stretched out. Marco Gonzales should be in the mix somewhere.

Re: Fuck, here we go

Some idiot (Rogers) at MlB has suggested in an oblique fashion that the Cards might consider trading Kelly, Bader, and Delvin Perez to acquire a lef-thanded pitcher from the White Sox.

Frankly I can't find anyone who agrees with me but i would really like to see Tyler Lyons get a shot at the rotation for about 6 or 7 starts.

I'm firmly of the belief that a pitcher with the extreme overhand delivery like Wacha's is just severe arm trouble in the developmental process.  Wacha's has gone past that stage.

I posted on Windy's Facebook page today we're unlikely to see the 2013-14 version of Wacha ever again. Without his changeup, which he apparently hasn't had a feel for since his weird shoulder impingement started bothering him, he's probably not a major league pitcher.

I've heard worse ideas. I'd like to see where Marco Gonzo is in ST. I assume Weaver is ticketed for Memphis this year, but he's another guy I want to keep my eye on in Jupiter.

Re: Fuck, here we go

It is going to be all hands on deck again this year for the pitching staff.  With the new rules i fully expect every teams pitching stay to be a revolving door.

Re: Fuck, here we go

Is like to see rosenthal become the person to fill reyes spot.  I think he has alot of upside as a starter.

I have high hopes for Weaver but I would like to see him and Gomber spend the year in Memphis.  Also, they have a 2016 first round pick out of Mississippi State that I expect to see with the big club in a year or so.  His name is Dakota Hudson.

But all of this is a year away.

I watched Hudson pitch in the NCAA tournament after the Cardinals drafted him and came away unimpressed, mostly because of his lack of command, but it was one start on a mound he wasn't familiar with. Gomber's walk rate is a little bit alarming, but he got some good reviews in the Arizona Fall League.
With Siegrist's health in question now, does Littrell have a chance at being promoted to St. Louis?

Re: Fuck, here we go

I had thought Littell might be of some help to the them.  Unfortunately, he just flunked a drug test and will be serving a 50 game suspension.  I guess he'll be well rested and ready to help around June.

Poor performence in the NCAA by Hudson is why he's a cardinal farm hand.  I didn't realize the Cards had drafted him bfefore the season ended.

His stock in the draft suffered significantly on the basis of his late season performance.  But he was rising pretty fast in the Cardinal system in the later part of the minor league season..

Re: Fuck, here we go

Im not going on an ethical rant or a debate on peralta but imo if a minor league player fails a frug test for ped id cut him.

Makes you wonder how many of these borderline prospects are taking the risk just to put them over the top.

Drug of abuse is marijuana or some other street drug. This wasn't PEDs.

Re: Fuck, here we go

Marijuana is legal in at least four states, and it will probably be legal in more than half of them within 10 years. It's hardly a performance enhancing drug, unless it results in the rest of the Red Sox making it to the post-game spread before Pablo Sandoval can devour it. MLB needs to get current on this issue.

In all 50 states, including those in which it is legal, an employer can terminate an employee for testing positive for marijuana.  I'd say MLB is current on this issue.

I've never smoked marijuana, so I can't say I relate to the appeal.  But if I had prospects of making the major leagues and one of the conditions of making it was that I give up bacon cheeseburgers, I'd figure out a way to stop eating bacon cheeseburgers.

I shouldn't be foolish enough to debate a labor attorney who works in the best labor law office in St. Louis on a point of labor law, and I understand no employer wants an employee showing up high, but if you're smoking marijuana off-the-clock in a state where marijuana is legal, how is that any different than downing a couple of beers at the neighborhood tavern after work?
