Re: 4/11 Loss Crap

"Re: Leake - If Reyes doesn't get hurt in the off-season, Leake starts the season in the bullpen. "

Wacha starts the season in the bullpen id hope.  That was the majority optinion.  The way waino is pitching, lynn tj statues, wacha time bomb of a shoulder i think you could rank leake second in reliability.  Plus waino got hurt a couple years ago, lynn last year....we would be bitching if the cards didnt have an extra arm for the rotation.

"Re: Peralta - I didn't see anyone else knocking down the door to land Jhonny Peralta for four years. Moz misread the market and they overpaid. "

Maybe or maybe he jumped ahead of the market when the cards needed a ss and there wasnt a deep market.  Never the less i think peralta could have been purged from the roster and that is what i would have done.  Return or no return.

"Re: Wong/Piscotty - Why extend a player when you don't have to? I can see giving a contract to a player like Pujols before he's free agent/arbitration eligible, but they're not him."

Mo is basicly following the trend of buying out arbitration years and gaining a year or two in these cases.  It isnt a radically poor decision.  Wong had unloadable value.  And like allen craig proved, you can ditch these guys if you guess wrong.  Gyorko is a result of similar thinking.

"Re: Pena - They gave a 2-year contract to a player who didn't hit a single home run in 108 games the year before they signed him. He got hurt in ST, came back and played four games (costing them Fryer), went back on the DL until September, and then the Cardinals paid him $2.5 million to go away."

I could care less about dewitts 2.5 mill or the windfall of cash he wipes his ass with.  Pena was signed to play 20 games a year and be a good clubhouse guy.  That failed but a backup catcher isnt a make or break position and neither is 2.5mill.  I dont think it has had a lasting effect that cause a poor start in 2017.

"Re: Broxton - He was a nice deadline acquisition in 2015, but it was clear his velocity and command had diminished. There were better options in the off-season than to sign him to a 2-year, $7.5 million deal."

Agreed and i dont believe the money is unrecoverable.  Just drop him and move on.  There are better options in the minors but like with the rest of these issues it isnt the original signing, it is the reluctance to change.  Round peg square hole

Re: 4/11 Loss Crap

Maybe i have a billy bean fetish.  I hope not.  Still, i think you can trade a wong or adams and not be in rebuilding mode.  I think you can sign a peralta and unload him toward the end.  I think you can take a chance on Pena and then give up on it. Most importantly, considering the cash flow of the cardinals, i think you can balance these issue with the acquisition of need middle of the order batter and top of the rotation pitchers.  The only reason not to imo is greed.  The idea that the owner can roll the dice and win.
