Re: 6/2 Loss Crap

Sierra recalled, Gyorko to the paternity list (funny, he didn't look pregnant).

You are joking aren't you?

My guess is that they signed off with no questions asked after seeing him scoring from second on a double.

Asking the Cardinals' bullpen to get 11 outs on a day Rosenhausen isn't available is suicidal.

If he brings in Siegrist for the 8th, I'm switching to an NCAA tournament game.

You had to specifically ask for Rosenhausen, didn't you?

I assume you're at work and not watching, because Sierra made a mess of Rizzo's "double."

Who would have been primarily responsible for the decision to call up Sierra instead of Valera?

I assume it would have been Mo with some input from Matheny.  I also have a very strong suspicion that Mo has a lot to say about how the players get used when they come up.

So you're saying he should have left Lynn in the game?

Matheny out-managed the shit out of Maddon in the 6th inning.  And McCarver and I were second guessing him every step of the way.and he came out smelling like a rose.

But I have to say he's got to learn to do a better job of telling Sierra and Piscotty how to play the OF.

And reminding Carpenter to keep his head out of his ass when a baserunner is trying to go from 2d to third on a play at first.

Yeah.  Too bad Broxton wasn't available, or at least wasn't eligible.

I always understood the mantra is Moz buys the groceries and Matheny makes the meal. But that may have changed since Moz basically told the press at the end of last year Matheny is over his head.

I'm not saying Lynn should have stayed in the game. I'm saying that outside of Bowman, Rosenthal, who usually isn't available back-to-back days, and Oh, the bullpen stinks worse than Rosie O'Donnell's armpits.

I'm willing to give allowances to the outfield defense today. Neither corner outfiedler has a lot of experience playing day games at Wrigley. Sierra has none; and I don't think the Cardinals played a day game in Chicago last year, so Piscotty hasn't played RF there since 2015, if at all.

Carpenter looks like he's on some kind of medication. I think someone has replaced his Gatorade with Nyquil.

Yeah, I wasn't watching, and I was just being sarcastic anyway.

Moz decides the callups. Valera isn't on the 40 man roster which is why Sierra was the choice the first time he was called up.

You had me worried.  I recall when he was put on the 40 man last year and was fairly confident that he had not been taken off.  But I really do think I'm in the early stages of whatever that condition is that makes it hard for old people to remember.

For example, I just spent about an hour watching the Magnificent Seventh for the umpteenth time and, as hard as I tried, I couldn't think of the name of the actor Brad Dexter.  I would've flunked the trivia question, "Name all sever of the actors who played the Magnificent Seven."  It finally came to me halfway through typing this digression, just as I was about to call up the IMDb.

This is where the Alzwhatever kicks in.  I wrote my a-hole comments with a post other than yours in mind.  Someone, I think, wrote a post suggesting than Matheny was going to screw the pooch by bringing in Rosey Baby.   But I don't think it would be worth the effort to try to figure out which post it was.  It might keep me up past my bedtime.

My mistake. I only looked at outfielders.

Well, when I checked the first time after I saw your post, I didn't see his name and was trying to figure out when he got taken off.  Then I realized I was looking at the 25 man roster.
