6 / 6 D - Day loss crap

The "Wainwright inning" , is out of the way so he should be fine now .

Not watching the Cardinals because Madison wanted to watch the college softball world series game (for those who don't know--and why would you--Game 1 went 17 innings last night) and apparently ESPN found a female descendent of Mike Shannon to call the game.  Only the bottom of the 2nd and we've already had

(In reference to a batter who hasn't struck out in over 80 at bats)- "It can actually be a disadvantage to be such a good contact hitter because sometimes it's better to let strike 3 go by rather than hit a weak ground ball."

and

"the Oklahoma coach likes to play small ball, so it isn't unusual for her to call for a bunt when the leadoff hitter gets on even if it's after 1 out."

I just checked the Cardinals score.  I'm going to stick with the softball game.

I guess Wainwright won't have a sub-4 ERA again anytime soon.

Not that tonight is his fault, but I would fire Matheny tonight.

I would fire Mo ( who put this pile of shit together) , first . And let the new GM fire Matheny.

Re: 6 / 6 D - Day loss crap

I just got home from work. I don't want to hear about the game. I don't want to read about the game. I don't want to watch any video clips from the game. I want to pretend a grown man who lets people call him "Scooter" isn't on a list with Lou Gehrig, Willie Mays and Mike Schmidt.I want to wake up tomorrow at 7 p.m. and pretend none of it ever happened.

Is this Beth Mowins? She's the worst. The worst. The W-O-R-S-T. Worse than Brennadouche. She's covered the WCWS when ASU played in it, and I literally had to turn the sound off. Now she's doing pxp for the Raiders' pre-season games.

(Did you forget about Mark Whitten?)

If you would change "lets" to "wants," I think you have hit on something on which we could all agree.

Maybe make an exception for Scooter Rowe, former Giants second baseman..

Good point.

I hadn't. And while he was certainly not a Hall of Fame player in any respect, he at least looked like a guy who might be able to hit four homers in a game.
If Gennett had hit one more home run last night, he would have had to re-string his entire banjo, not just 80 percent of it.

Re: 6 / 6 D - Day loss crap

Last night's game got me thinking about listening to Stan Musial hit 5 home runs in a double header one Sunday afternoon on May 2, 1954.  On thing I remember clearly is Harry Caray's call the last time Musial came to bat that day.  He hit, according to Harry, a long drive that just missed  being #6 by hooking foul into the RF corner.  I found myself wondering last night if it would have given Musial 4 home runs in the 2d game.  The answer, I learned, is "no."  The first game was Musial's 3 home run game.  But I did find this interesting article in looking for an answer:
