As someone was saying (ad nauseum) just a few days ago, Adams "still" can't hit:

Hey, at least Juan Yepez has a couple of homers in Peoria.

Small sample size and change of venue helps some guys, but you have to wonder why he didnt do better in stl.

Right.
I heard he just hit a 3 run homer off of Strasburg.
I always feel a little uneasy when I find that Whiskey Dan McLaughlin is saying something that I've thought too. But, like WD, I would like to have seen Adams put in the line-up and left there against all pitchers for a much more extended period than he got.

Two homers, a single, four RBI and three runs tonight.
But, hey, Carpenter is hitting again now that he's back in the leadoff spot.

If ever there was a team that needed to be blown up (beginning with the GM), this is it.
On my no-trade list would be: Kelly, Sierra, Alex Reyes, & Flaherty. Below AAA, I don't think I know enough to commit -- except for Sierra.
Unfortunately, Molina, Cecil, and Fowler apparently have contractual protection. Most unfortunately.
I'd start by trading someone who only wants to hit in one spot in the order, no matter how ill-suited he is for it.
I should also confess that Babe Wong would have topped my list of tradeables 2 months ago. Now he would be just below my "no trade" list. Enos Grichuk would still have to go soon. That may be the only thing on which Mo and I agree.

Hopefully the club doesnt hold onto this series against the phillies as a correction to the problem.
Matt adams is prooff that the cardinals are not getting the most out of thier talent. Is it instruction or motivation? Idk. It is something.

It's going to be interesting to see what the Braves do once Freeman comes back in a few weeks from his broken whatever he broke. Freeman has never played a defensive position other than first base, and as I recall he's pretty good at it. Maybe they move Kemp to right, have Adams play left, sit Markakis, and ask Inciarte to catch every outfield fly ball between the foul lines.
I can't for the life of me understand why the Braves traded for Adams as a 10-week stop gap. It's not like they're going to catch the Nashnils (who, much to my delight, are undergoing serious bullpen issues, but that's a different thread ...). Maybe they're trying to keep their low attention span fans interested long enough to keep showing up to their new ballpark until the Falcons start training camp. Unless the player the Cardinals got is a complete dufus, it makes no sense to me.

Peralta given unconditional release....

The way Adams is playing, the Braves can probably flip him for someone better than the player they sent the Cardinals

They took a player at low value and gave up, probably very little. They can now trade Adams or hold onto him. The braves did alright.

I thought it was a hellua good move by the Braves and poor work by Mo. He should have seen the situation 10 months ago and gotten more for Adams. But I don't mind we get good coverage of the Braves in Memphis and I'm starting to enjoy watching their games.
And I think Fors is right about the flip.
Speaking of watching the Braves makes me think of the early days of cable t.v. (in my household). I sure miss day baseball.

Pay particular attention to the citation of Adams' 1.018 OPS since his acquisition by Atlanta.
Maybe the Braves can solve their conundrum by trading Freeman to the Cardinals for a Double-A non-prospect.

You should pass that along. Great suggestion. Adams is hitting the ball hard even when he makes an out except for the K's and pop-ups that don't seem to happen as often.
Adams had a bad night on defense last night, as did most of the Braves. I felt like I was watching the Cardinals. (and I was some of the time). But the Braves have already benefited greatly from the trade. If nothing else, he's sure given Skip Carey and his partner something to be positive about.

Well the braves should at least be a willing trading partner. They owe us a few.

Report says freeman wants to transition to third base to keep matt adams in the lineup.

Matt Adams is 2 for 3 tonight with a long homer (his 13th) and a hard line drive to left for another RBI. I sure hope his Christmas present to Mo gets misaddressed to me.
Has Carpenter ever hit a line drive to left with 2 men on?

"Matt Adams is 2 for 3 tonight with a long homer (his 13th)"
Which ties him with Carpenter and Fowler, who are leading the Cardinals in home runs. Of course, neither of those guys rode Matheny's bench for the first seven weeks of the season.

Every time I heard Mo interviewed (before this season), I somehow got the idea it was his bench.

The judge of a manager should be if he is getting the most out of his player. Is he putting the right players in the right position to succeed. I dont think the question really needs answered.
