Re: 7/27 Loss Crap

I wonder how much a bullpen catcher gets paid.

This pitcher reminds me of Mike Hampton.

Do pitchers hit in the minor leagues anymore?

A right-handed version, of course.

You're going to have to throw strikes to someone, kid.

Wasn't the second time through the order a problem for Weaver the last time he was up?

Re: 7/27 Loss Crap

How come every time McLaughlin and Edmonds do a game together it seems like they have a private running joke they can't let anyone else in on?
It's annoying.

Re: 7/27 Loss Crap

If I read in the paper tomorrow a quote from someone affiliated with the Cardinals suggesting Weaver "only threw one bad pitch," I'm going to be annoyed.

Just got to my computer for the first time since this thread was begun.

The answer to your question is:  Yes.  And he hasn't been going deep into the games at Memphis.

I don't think they come any better than that one.

The last time I heard someone address the question the rule was that Memphis didn't use the DH when they played another team in a National League farm system.  If that's still the rule, the PCL has got a lot of American League Farm teams., or so it seems.

Since the first time I ever saw him, I've thought he'd be perfect for a part in the remake of "A Clockwork Orange."

Re: 7/27 Loss Crap

I've been changing my mind about Wong.  But after watching him drag his ass to first base after breaking his bat on a ground ball to second, they can't unload him fast enough to suit me.

At some point, the NL is going to have the DH. I'd rather see it go the other way and have the AL revert to real baseball, but the players union will never allow it.

I've always suspected Wong's IQ hovers around room temperature on a relatively cool day. 90 percent of his problems are between his ears.

Re: 7/27 Loss Crap

My last day of work is tomorrow and I just got an alert the local hospital is being closed due to an outbreak of scabies. This better be some kind of practical joke perpetrated by one of my soon-to-be former colleagues.

No. Taking a different job. Moving from the newspaper industry to a cushy government position.

Re: 7/27 Loss Crap

Someone else ended up writing this:

WINCHESTER - News has broken overnight of a potential outbreak of scabies at Winchester Hospital.Patients at the hospital, the Emergency Room and other visitors to Winchester Hospital were warned about a potential outbreak of scabies. One patient had an active scabies infection when they were admitted, and now another patient in the same unit is being treated. In addition, more than 20 hospital employees have shown symptoms of a possible infection. Those employees will not return to work until they are no longer at risk of being contagious. Treatment for other employees who may have been exposed is also underway. The hospital says scabies is highly contagious but is also highly treatable. It is speared by skin-to-skin contact with someone who is infected, or can be spread from clothing, bedding and furniture. The hospital said there are no changes to scheduled patient care, and protocols are in place to ensure no one else is at risk of exposure.
