The Worst Contract Ever

Solely on the basis of hindsight, I was leaning toward agreeing with Fors that Fowler's contract was the biggest mistake ever that the Cards had made in that respect.   But this story, if it is accurate, has completely returned me to my originals view that the Molina contract was the biggest mistake ever.

http://www.stltoday.com/sports/baseball/professional/after-night-off-molina-posts-on-social-media-that-he/article_52547096-0cd2-5658-896e-1ff6d0d4f61b.html

Given what Fors has reported, I wish Molina had told Mo that he would resign if Molina were given the extension.  Now, if I were Matheny, I'd sit Molina's ass on the bench until he either begged to be traded or I got fired.

I don't know if AP and I are on the same page on this or not, but I do think this sort of crap does suggest the Cards need a manager who will take over the team, or at least burn down a few buildings trying to do so.

Matheny would lose that battle. Molina is immensely popular in St. Louis. Much more so than Matheny.

Re: The Worst Contract Ever

Im not for a prolonged benching of molina.  I am very much for a 70/30 split.

Imo fowler is a worst contract then molina.  I excites me very little.

Re: The Worst Contract Ever

I still think the worst contract they ever gave was to Cement-head. Not because it was particularly lucrative, but because he became the poster child for the institutional arrogance that took hold of the franchise for the two and a half years after an 83-win team won the World Series.

Re: The Worst Contract Ever

Watching Leake pitch this weekend, I think that his contract may pose about as many problems as Molina's or Fowler's.  The Cards now are loaded with strong pitching prospects in both AAA and AA.  With Reyes coming back next year, they may wind up with Leake filling a spot that could much better be filled by someone like Flaherty.  I don't see him in the pen and I don't see the Cards eating 3 years worth of his salary.

Do they have any toilets left to sell?
