Wacha vs. Ray

McLaughlin went with the "Weaver only threw one bad pitch" line. Yup. I screamed.

Be nice if the Cardinals got a run at some point in the series.

Oh my!

Rosenthal is starting to look like Andy Kaufman.

They also had a headline that stated the same thing on one of the sites I check. I think it was the Cards MLB site.

Holliday would have made that one look easy.

Now that's what I call a save.
I don't believe I've ever seen Rosenthal show that much movement on his pitches.

The Redbirds won another -- last night's suspended game. We've had a good bit of rain in Memphis the past couple of days. They tied i the fifth of the regularly scheduled game. But they are running out of pitching.
Alcantara had another good start for Springfield. They won.
Just let me know if this minor league stuff is boring to anyone.

The worst part was you missed seeing a camera shot that caught Greinke with a big smile on his face. As Arte has noted, that opportunity may not come around again.

I tried to keep most of the snark to myself after what happened to Ray, but one of the things about that play was that Descalso had the presence of mind to go after the ball after it caved in his pitcher's skull, and he made a sensational diving catch in foul ground. I don't understand why the Cardinals can't get players like that.

That was fantastic. Reminds of some guys from Arkansas who went Frog-Gigging back in the early 80's. But that's another story.
I enjoyed also watching the exchanges on the field after the commercial break. Voit, after getting in his best wishes to Ray, took his position at first base as a runner. Marmol apparently had to explain to him that he was out because of Descalso's catch, and you could see Voit look over at Descalso, who standing around the pitcher;'s mound. His eyes got big and he mouthed, "No shit?" Then they put the camera on Descalso, who allowed an appropriately understated grin and shrugged his shoulders.
