I was having a discussion with someone on our tour who asked me if I was surprised how poorly Pujols had played in Anaheim. I don't think I'd looked at his numbers since he reached 600 HR. It's ugly.
Through just about 2/3 of the season Pujols is hitting .228. He's on pace for about 20 HR and 80 RBI and he's actually played most of the season.
Pujols is close to a couple of milestone figures--3,000 hits and 2,000 RBI. I doubt he goes anywhere before he hits those goals. But there was a time Pujols said he wouldn't stick around if he couldn't perform at a level he felt was adequate. Maybe this year is an aberration, but his numbers are really bad. Pujols left St. Louis as a career .329 hitter. He's down to .306, and it's hard to lose points when you have as many at bats as he's had. If he sticks around 2 more seasons, he'll retire below .300.

Well then AP , after all these years , it may be time to change your screen name to a kinder, gentler, AP .

Wong reminds me of Garry Templeton, without the bat. Flashy plays and back-breaking screw-ups.

Not for nothing, but Pujols hit two homers today. He has 15 this season. I think that would lead the Cardinals.

16, actually. 3 for 5 today with 4 RBI. He owes you a sack of cash, Fors

Sorry, I was relying on Fox Sports Arizona's crawl. Probably programmed by an ASU grad.

I'd settle for 1% of what's left on his contract.
