You have four at bats a night. Is is that fucking difficult to run hard four times in three hours?

Looks like you're turning into one of those "bitter" fans the manager complained about.

Nah. I'm already in the past tense. You'd think what Piscotty saw the younger players do while he was hurt would motiivate him a little more. Matheny may be right and I am bitter, but it's because I know for damn sure Bader and Sierrra would have made it to second base on that dropped pop-up.

I didn't watch last night, but I'm guessing Piscotty dogged it on a pop-up.

Re: 8/1 Loss Crap

I was listening to Bernie on the way to work this morning, and it's really a shame he's too big of a pussy to ask his interviewees the tough questions he asks rhetorically after the interview has concluded.

This morning he interviewed DeWitt (the old man, not the kid) who claimed that in his opinion the current team has enough talent to be successful (i.e., make the playoffs), but had underachieved so far this season.  He pointed to some statistical metric (FanGraphs maybe) that indicates that instead of being 52-54, the team "should" be 57-49 which would put them a half game behind the Cubs and only 3 back in the wild card race.

After the interview was over, Bernie goes on a rant about IF the team "should" be 57-49, but is only 52-54, who is responsible for the discrepancy, and if it's the manager, then shouldn't Matheny and his staff be replaced.  Seems to me those would have been good questions to ask DeWitt rather than asking them to no one in general.

The DeWitt interview also left me quite depressed in the sense that if DeWitt and Moz have convinced themselves that the team has enough talent based on some stupid statistical algorithm, then that likely means that there won't be any significant changes.  They'll just chalk this season up to bad luck.

I haven't watched a game start to finish in probably two months or more, and I find myself flipping channels to look for a scoring update less and less.  They aren't entertaining to watch and quite honestly I really don't care.  And now that my kids are about to return to school and both are participating in fall sports, my level of interest is likely to drop even further--if that's even possible.

Braun and the brewers ss nearly collided and the ball fell.  Piscotty jogged to first when he could have been at second, with less then two outs as the tieing run late in the game.

Re: 8/1 Loss Crap

You have to recognize the problem before you can fix it.  Thats the frusterating part.  Im interested in the future of the Cardinals but not the present.  As i said, the frustrating part is watching the decisions that are current being made, as imo they do not lead to future success.  Im not a fair weather fan but you do have to give me a reason to watch.  Dewitt and company are not doing that.

You nailed it.  It hit a fly ball into short left and was too busy doing his Molina invitation to get first before it bounced off the shortstop's glove (who just missed a collision with Braun).  Whiskey Dan said in his indulgent voice, "What I want to know is why isn't the runner on second base."  They then did a brief replay that showed him blaming his bat for popping up.

BTW, I kept checking and this thread dodn't show up for me until sometime this morning.  I checked as late as the bottom of the 8th hoping that there was a game thread so I could bitch about Piscotty.  Somehow I think it was Comsast again.  But maybe it was my computer.

Come to think of it, I even checked on my IPad after I got in bet (after the 9th) and the thread wasn't there.

P.S. to Fors:  If yoiu're listening to BM, you really need to get away from the game for a while.

P.S. to AP:  Sorry to repeat you.  I think too slowly to get the post up in a timely fashion.

We went out to dinner with friends who are going back to Chicago at the end of the week and didn't get home until the bottom of the seventh. I'm not sure I but I think I started the game thread in the top of the eighth. Not that I necessarily have a proprietary right to start the game threads, but Don or I are the ones who usually do.

Because he's nationally recognized, he tends to have a pretty decent lineup of guests on his show.  Other than the interviews, he's tough to listen to because he doesn't take calls.  So if he's not doing an interview, the entire show is Bernie talking to himself.  That's usually when I switch.

Would "dreck" be a more appropriate term?

Im a bernie fan.  I disagree with him sometimes but mostly i see eye to eye.  He basicly echos the fan base on a yearly basis.  I thought when he left the PD he wasnt writing anymore and was pleased to learn awhile back that he was still at it.  I do find his writing to be an honest assessment.  I dont get to listen to him on the radio unless i happen to be in the area.  Wish i could pull it in.  I find streaming to be not worth it.  I dont want to sit in my house and listen to someone talk.  Another persons show id like to hear is chris duncans.  Admittedly i have a bit of a man crush on him.  Idk why, just always liked him as a player.  May have not been the most talented but he wasnt a lazy bum like the team is made up of now.

I was reading derrick goold the other day and about puked.  He basicly see everything through ownerships eyes.  I cant read that shit.
