8/2 Game Dreck

Let me guess. Weaver has only thrown one bad pitch so far and Thames hit it 450 feet.

Re: 8/2 Game Dreck

Not sure about that, but I clicked over once, the Cardinals has the bases loses and no one out and only scored once. Haven't looked since.

Re: 8/2 Game Dreck

Can this really be correct--MLB.com says Molina is 15 for 18 with 8 HR against Milwaukee's starter.

That seems hard to believe, even with the way Yadi has handled him tonight.

Re: 8/2 Game Dreck

These people still give Yadi a hard time for getting tossed from a game five years ago, but they have no problem cheering for Ryan Braun, who is the most dishonest active player in the sport.

Why is Weaver still in the game?

Please tell me Matheny knew Counsell was going to hit Villar for Sogard.

It's amazing how much Molina comes alive when he gets a little rest every now and then.

Did Torres just spin and look to throw home after he made the third out?!? How does the pitcher - the pitcher! - not know how many outs there are and if there are runners on base???

Nice work by Brebbia. He only threw two bad pitches.

Unfortunately, I had left watching the game to come in to my computer to see what insightful comments you had offered.  In other words. I didn't see the play.

I agree with Whiskey Dan on the double switch.  At this stage it's more important to keep the best defense on the field.

I hope the Cards pen doesn't answer your question.

Hey, Grichuk. There's a zero percent chance Pham gets picked off first.

There are games when DeJong looks clueless at the plate. This has been one of them.

Which Brewers player gets the walk off hit? I say Travis Shaw.

My screen is too small to read the box.  Was that strike 3 a change-up?

Don't think so, but it was off-speed

I thought it looked like Thames timing was off just a little.

Serious question: I've always assumed Molina makes the Cardinals Hall of Fame, but he has a chance to get to 2,000 hits as a catcher (only 3 other catchers have done so), 150 HR and close to 1,000 RBI. Those are really good offensive numbers for a catcher. With his defense, does he have a legitimate shot at the MLB HOF?  Obviously not a first ballot guy, but maybe one of those guys who gets in around his last chance on the ballot?

I honestly have thought he was a shoe-in.  Maybe not on the first ballot but his two platinum gloves (or is it more) seem to make him a choice for his defense alone.

I guess I was looking at it from the perspective that Edmonds' defense wasn't good enough to get him in, so I always assumed Molina would be close but short.

Looking at it more carefully, his offensive numbers will be more than adequate for a catcher; 8 gold gloves, 4 platinum gloves, 8 all-star games, 4 pennants and 2 World Series is probably more than enough.

Re: 8/2 Game Dreck

I think molinas reputation as a field general tips the scales.  His ablity/credit with pitchers success weighs in favor of the hof bs character clause.
