Six pitches tonight.

Every time I get optimistic about the Cardinals, they toss up an airball like tonight.

And we're tied ...

Hrabosky: "A lot of people think this team is going to take off now that it's at .500."
Who, Al? I want the names of your sources.
I know Hrabosky bristles at the notion he's a member of the media, but he is, like it or not. And statements like this are as wimpy as they are lazy.

Oh look. Brandon Moss struck out.

Get this Merrifield kid out of town, quick.

DeJong just guessing up there.

Furry animals seem to bring out the best in the Cardinals.

I'd have bashed that cat's skull with a bat if it had scratched me

Anyone else have the feeling that the Cardinals should go ahead and re-sign Eric Fryer and let Kelly go back to Memphis? It's pretty obvious Molina is going to play as much as he wants.

Oh is still on double secret probation.

The other thing is Kelly is building service time in the majors and he'll run out of options earlier. I wrote a couple of weeks ago they must think he has nothing left to prove in the minor leagues, but it's obvious sitting on the bench in St. Louis isn't doing anything for him.

If that kid wasn't aware that kitten was going to scratch and or bite him, then he doesn't know much about pussy.

Has there been anything in the St. Louis media about the pad Rosenhausen has been wearing on the right side of his cap since Robbie Ray got coned?

Not that I've seen, but I've generally stopped reading the Post.

Does the problems a pussy causes ever stop anyone?

I have the same thoughts on the molina/kelly thing. Kelly has to, has to....play once a week. Even then, is that enough to justify him being in the majors at this point.

I don't think so. The front office has screwed up the backup catcher thing ever since they signed Brayan Pena.

It isnt like if yadi goes down they are calling gary bennett out of retirement tho. They just send the bus north from memphis. This isnt a question of who plays if yadi gets hurt. It is a question of if kelly catching 2 or 3 times a month is worth him being on the 25 man roster. No matter if he is in memphis or stl kelly is gor all intents and purposes the backup.

The only other reason I can think of that would prompt them to call him up is the possibility they may lose him in a Rule 5 situation, but I've never been all together clear on what that entails.

There really isn't a good reason for Kelly to be here and not play. Players on the 40 man roster are excluded from the Rule 5 draft, and Kelly made it to the 40 man roster last season. As far as options, a player on the 40 man only burns 1 option per year, so Kelly's option for 2017 was used as soon as he was sent to Memphis after spring training. They could send him down now and it wouldn't cost an option. Plus, as Artie pointed out, it would actually save them service time.
It pretty much comes down to this: is Kelly better served playing regularly in Memphis or playing once every 10 days in St. Louis while learning under the tutelage of Matheny and Molina? It appears they think option B is the better option. I'm not sure I agree, but they don't consult me on these things.

If Kelly's being up , causes a spike in Molina's play on the field , I'm for it . I think Kelly can learn on the job in the MLB ....

"they don't consult me on these things."
I think we can agree with unanimity the team would be a lot better off if the people running it would read this message board.

1.5 games back from the cubs....what would this team be like with a middle of the order bat.

The horrible throw last night that ended up in centerfield aside, I think Molina's defense has been better this year than last. Whether that's because he thinks Kelly is pushing him, I can't say.
