    Is there ever any rhyme or reason to Matheny's lineup cards, or does he just put Carpenter's name at the top, the pitcher's name at the bottom and draw straws for everything in between?

    I was thinking the same thing. And I'm glad the P-D included the Tweet from the Humane Society of MO indicating they have dozens of animals who are waiting for homes. Maybe the publicity will entice people to show up and adopt every last pet from their shelters.

    I'm too lazy to look it up, but I'm guessing Fouler has started a game batting fourth less than five times in his major league career.

    Fouler has started 27 games batting in the cleanup spot. Which means Mike Matheny is not the dumbest manager in the history of baseball.
