8/19 Loss Dreck

Wacha vs. Kuhl

Re: 8/19 Loss Dreck

I had a feeling Wacha wasn't going to be the same pitcher after the rain delay. Why did they start this game when they knew the rain was coming?

Whiskey Dan and Al have been hinting that the Pirates organization should be blamed for that.  They haven't gone so far as to say "They knew Wacha was pitching."

It would be a shame to waste all this offense from Grichuk.

Well, shame on Wacha for being so delicate, but I'm sure the pitching matchup played a role in the decision to start the game. You can call it gamesmanship, but it usually seems like there's some sort of bullshit perpetrated by the Pirates.

Did McLaughlin go to Boston College? That would explain his alcohol problem.

Why isn't Fouler playing tonight? Is his heel bothering him again?

From the very first time I saw that extreme overhand delivery, I was convinced that he was heading for serious arm trouble.  But he has also had more rain delays and had to pitch in the rain by far more than any pitcher I've ever been aware of.

BTW, before the telecast was over Al and WD really got in a lot of bitching about the way Pittsburgh had handled the game start.

I think they said he had a sore back that had tightened up on him.

Idk that the pirates would have expected wacha to react differently then khul.

I'm pretty sure the Pirates knew who was pitching, and Dan did say Kuhl had to face the same disruption. This stuff happens, but it seems to happen more in Pittsburgh than other places. Geezus Christ, whatever you do, don't hit a Pirates player with a pitch. The folks in the third base dugout will react like you've committed a felony.

There's a guy at my gym who is probably in his 60s. He always struts around the gym wearing a maroon shirt with a Boston College logo, matching maroon shorts and a maroon and gold bandanna that he probably bought when Rocky III came out. He's got whiter than white hair and matching skin, except for the signature Chestnut Hill rum blossom on his nose. I'm dying to ask him "Couldn't get accepted to Holy Cross, huh?"

Ive never pitched obviously but idk how hard a rain delay can be.  Especislly after one inning.  I could see after a half game when as a pitcher you are wearing down.  After just one inning id think your arm would easiely bounce back from the break.  And with a rain delay it like you dont know when it will end.  Look at the radar.  Get yourself back ready to go.  Of course this is wacha.  Idk what kind of maintenance he has to do on his arm.  Probably just needed douched but he might do a full blown vaginal rejuvenation between starts.

His brother Kevin went to BC. I think Dan attended something local.

The two things that drive me nuts are people who don't wipe down their equipment when they're done with it, and people who use their cell phones. Even though there are signs every five feet that ask you to not use your phone when you're at the gym.

You're never the same after a rain delay. Pitching is all about repetition and routine, and rain delays throw you off. You're hot, then you cool off for who knows how long and then you have to go through your routine all over again. It's the same thing for me with writing. If I lost a story due to a computer glitch, the second version of the story was never as good. What the Cardinals probably should have done is start a relief pitcher and then brought Wacha in after the rain delay.

Re: 8/19 Loss Dreck

Like i said i dont get it but i have no experience.  I dont see how after warming up and throwing maybe 15 pitches a hour rain delay would throw a pitcher so off kilter.  Imo, it seems like more of a mental thing.

Among the many things that drive me crazy is people playing on their cell phones while occupying equipment.  I've actually had to wait on a stationary bike when a young girl (appx 12-18) sits on her bike texting and playing video games while slowly pumping the pedals until her Mom or sister finishes with the next bike. And, despite the rules that are posted, I so seldom see anyone wipe off the equipment that I think those who do must be working for CSI or something.  I've come to think of that as just building up immunities for my old age.
