8/24 Loss Dreck

Was San Diego one of those losing teams the Cardinals were supposed to use to catapult themselves up in the standings?

Re: 8/24 Loss Dreck

Off topic.  Maybe I should start a new thread called "America goes Latin."

Perhaps this happened before in the days when there were a lot of players named Smith, Jones, and Johnson.

In last night's Baltimore/Oakland game, the winning and losing pitchers were both named Castro.

In this afternoon's Miami/Philadelphia game, the winning and losing pitchers were both named Garcia.

I wonder if Whiskey Dan has mentioned that.

I agree with everything you said Mags , and I'm wondering if our luck would change if we went from loss dreck to loss feculence .
On a side note , I love lemon icebox pie with grahmcracker crust ....

Very close to my favorite.  For me, nothing has ever matched my mom's caramel pie.  (which we always called carmel)

I think 1 slice now would use up about a month's allotment of sugar intake for me.

You can't go wrong with anything caramel in it ...

Indeed. It's ok now to run up the white flag after they dropped a 1-run game to the Padres, even though they didn't lose any ground to the Cubs.

I read this as "flatulence."

Actually, they did lose a game to the Cubs over the past 3 days.

You brought up the Cardinals schedule and the fact that they only had 12 games left against winning teams.  Not surprising the Cubs have a similar schedule with only 14 games left against teams that currently have a winning record--none of whom have a better record than the Cubs.

Assume for the sake of discussion the Cubs play .500 the rest of the season.  Chances are they'll be better than that, but let's assume not.  The Cubs finish 86-76.  The Cardinals have to go 22-13 the rest of the season to tie the Cubs.  What exactly have you seen from this team that suggests they have a 22-13 streak in them?

I was referring to last night.

"What exactly have you seen from this team that suggests they have a 22-13 streak in them?"

The 18-6 streak they had back in late April and early May.

That's only 24 games.  If you look at the 11 games before that streak they were 2-9.  That's 20-15.  Look at the 11 after that streak they were 3-8.  That only gets you to 21-14.  You can even try to mix and match on both ends, but you can't get to 22 wins in 35 games.

I admire your optimism though.

Re: 8/24 Loss Dreck

And Charlie Finley is saying "I told you so."

I'm sure Carlos Martinez will be in heaven.
