The day after I pick him up for my fantasy team.

Looks like it may be a good night to give Holland a little more work.
Three batters later and the tying run is at the plate.
I hope you noted that I made that comment during the 4th inning and it was intended as a comment on where I thought Waino was headed and not a serious suggestion about providing our latest multi-millionaire a substitute for Spring training.

Waino seems so slow working
He's toast, and Matheny is going to send him out for the 5th against 3-4-5 so he can qualify for a win.
Yeah. Another terrible move.

I heard Happ connect, I heard the crowd roar, and then I heard Dan say "Fly ball to center ..." and nearly threw up in my mouth.Yeah, we had the same issue here.
I made fun of the signing, but Norris is the closer for the indefinite future if I’m in charge. That was a helluva save tonight, and he’s striking out almost 2 per inning.
Same here. I hate Comncsst so much that I'd like to blame them but I suppose it was something coming out of the ballpark feed. I get the same effect when I listen to the radio for my audio.
Fors, I'm with you on Norris but just didn't get around to saying so before he proved me wrong. I really like what I've seen of Norris, on and off the field. There ought to be someway that the club could require Holland to switch contracts with him -- and perhaps do the same thing with Pham (or Martinez) and Fowler.
It's a damn shame that Matheny will be forced to keep trying to justify Holland's signing by working him toward being the closer.

The Redbirds lost to Omaha in extras last night but got an effective 7 innings out of Gomber.
Mercado went 3 for 4 and experienced a hbp.

I went to bed at 830ish cause i had to wake up at 4am. Waino was gassed and barely got out of the 4th. I fully expected a all out come apart. Suprised carp had a good game. Not suprised fowler didnt. Worried about holland. Clearly needed more time in the minors.

Norris only put together a half season of good pitching last year. I know he had knee issues but im not convinced of him just yet. Not after a few closer type outings. And im not writing off holland either. He should be a decent back end pitch even if he isnt a closer.

I'm not ready to name Norris closer for life and I've not completely given up on Holland since I wasn't that excited about him from the beginning. Last season gave us a reason to think he was nearing the finish line.
I'm always tempted to think that professional baseball men ought to be able to recognize when a guy is losing it. Then I think of Ernie Broglio and Mark Mulder. And Don Gullett and Andy Messersmith and perhaps a half-dozen other guys that signed for big contracts with a new team in the 70's when really smart men were trying to figure out how to work with free agency.

I should have gone to bed at 8:30 since I was almost certainly going to wake up at 4:30 a.m., as I in fact did.
I'm having the same success with figuring out old age that baseball execs are having with free agency.

It seemed to be just that half-inning. It was fixed by the top of the ninth. It may have had something to do with the weather. I recall Dan and Jim mentioning with weather once, twice or 1,000 times.

I did. I feel badly criticizing Wainwright. They don't win the World Series in 2006 without him, and he's never been anything but a tremendous representative of the franchise. But I heard McLaughlin say last night that he spoke to Wainwright and he still thinks he can be the 2010 or 2013 version of himself. I'd love to see him win 20 games and be that guy again, but the chances of that happening are only slightly greater than me joining the Jonny Gomes Fan Club.
