I’m surprised Brebbia knew what to do when they called his name.
Impressed matheny let him pitch all 3 innings.

Only Pham would have to leave a game with an "accidental head laceration."
Wonder what matheny did to make him beat his head against the wall.

Pham lasted all of one at-bat, coming out of the game in the third inning with a cut to his head. He was in the indoor batting cage getting ready for his at-bat and using a resistance band. His bat snapped off the band, which he called a “hitting contraption” of his design, and cracked him in the forehead.
He went through post-concussion tests at the ballpark and will have to be re-evaluated Thursday before playing.
“I didn’t know what happened other than the barrel (of the bat) hitting me,” he said. “I’ve in been in some real pain before. I’ve been stabbed. I’ve been through a lot, let’s just say that. I felt pain, but the only thing was that I couldn’t get the blood to stop.”

Love the cryptic "Let's just say I've been through a lot ..." statement. I'm not sure cutting yourself with a butter knife qualifies as "being stabbed."

Thats really what he was referring too?

I don't think so, but if you're going to go there, some specificity would have been appropriate. Was he knifed in a gang fight? Was he shanked in a prison riot? Did he cut his hand gutting a black bear during a hunting expedition?

"Pham, explaining to the Post-Dispatch on Thursday, said it had happened at his mother’s house when he was growing up and that his stepfather had come at him with a knife in his hand.
I think we were fighting over my mom,” said Pham. Pointing to his chest, Pham said the knife “grazed me. It cut me. So ... that’s what happened.”

Not as dramatic as getting shanked in a prison riot, is it?

As a general rule, if your sitting in a room full of people that think they are badasses and everyone is telling war stories the guy you need to be worried about is the one who says nothing.

When I was in college, I worked summe breaks at a company that had an arrangement with the county for a prison pre-release program. Talking to the guys in the program was illuminating, to say the least. Apparently, everyone who is in prison was convicted of armed robbery, because it's a crime that lets the other inmates know you're dangerous, but not crazy.
