Flip flop carp and bader at the very least

They finally found a defensive position for Martinez where he doesn't hurt the team.

Carpenter not striking out should be news ...

Yeah but carp at first isnt exactly an overwhelming upgrade. Carp blends the quality of poor defense with poor offense for a very nauseating result.

Matt Carpenter now has 16 hits in 112 at bats.
My daughter Madison has 37 hits and 16 extra base hits in 4 weekends of softball

Flats has looked remarkably comfortable after that jittery first inning.

It was, but why did Flaherty pitch to back-to-back lefties with Cecil ready in the pen?

I’m not one to blame coaches, but is there any doubt that anyone other than John Mabry would have been fired long ago?

Cecil's slider was really good on Sunday. He looked like the pitcher the Cardinals were supposed to be getting when they signed him. Then last night, he went back to being Bad Brett. He got away with a sloppy slider to Kepler to end the fifth, and for whatever reason he decided to throw a fastball to Morrison. I suppose you don't want to risk throwing a breaking pitch and missing to get behind 3-1 in the count to lead off an inning, but if you're going to throw a fastball in that situation to a guy who hit 38 home runs last season, make sure it's not waist high and down the middle.

The Cardinals are 29th in team batting average. The guillotine is going to fall on Mabry soon. Followed by a story in the P-D two days later citing anonymous sources who claim Mabry became a deleterious influence in the clubhouse because spent too much time reading Nicholas Sparks novels instead of going over video with the hitters.
