That's a sign that Reyes is about to come off the DL.  The 40-man roster was full, and there probably isn't anyone on there that the teams wants, or is willing, to DFA.  Reyes has made a couple of rehab appearances already, and was very good in his last appearance.  His return is probably imminent.

Edit: Just saw that Kelly was put on the DL.  Pena is the only healthy catcher on the 40-man.  Wainwright's move frees up a spot for the new backup catcher.

They are calling up Steve Baron from Memphis and moving Knizer from AA to Memphis.  But that still leaves them with the problem of finding a place for Alex Reyes.  I just keep thinking they are going to be unloading some veterans. There are a lot of problems in so doing.  One being that Wong, Fowler, and Carpenter are not marketable with the way they've been hitting.  If anyone of them turns it a round, the fans will howl if they traded.  Morever, I don't see any prospects on the horizon besides Schrock who hit left-handed.  Same thing if they wanted to trade Garcia and take a chance on Munoz.

Frankly, I was really pleased when they acquired Ozuna.  But now I wish they had gotten Yelich instead, especially with the emergence of O'Neill and Mercado.   And that's because of the need for a left-handed bat and not because of the way Ozuna is hitting.

If Kelly’s injury isn’t too serious, he might be activated before Reyes. They could then release Baron and try to pass him through waivers.
