I always wanted to know what happens if a player throws the ball into the stands at the end of an inning like Bader just did and the ball smashes a fan in the nose? Can the fan sue? Or is it one of those situations that's covered by the "team isn't liable for objects leave the field" language on the back of your ticket?

I really don’t like but I heard Whiskey Dan or one of the crew say yesterday that Gyorko has better range. At least they didn’t say they liked Carpenter’s arm at third.

Thanks. I saw my first Green Stamps in Fayetteville’ Ark. in summer 1950.
At the same drugstore where I encountered my first “electric eye” door opener.

I think if they hadn't expected to get five innings from him, they shouldn't have started him. I mean, really. There are only eight guys in the bullpen. Surely, you have to save a couple for tomorrow.

He struck out very meekly with runners on 1st and 3rd and one out. On the plus side, he recorded the first caught stealing of the season.

Who knew Arkansas had electricity in 1950?
The First National in Norwood used to give double green stamps on Thursdays. You'd spend an entire year collecting them and pasting them into books. Then you'd bring them to the S&H store so you could get a free bottle opener you could have bought for a dime at Woolworth's.
