Why wouldn’t anyone?

It’s morally evil.

This a no no that i want to see end.  Wacha is having a great year.  Hopefully at least a quick couple innings if not a hit.

Re: 6/3

Listening to the Pirates broadcast. Greg Brown can't find enough ways to talk about what it used to be considered a jinx to mention.

Re: 6/3

You gotta send him out for the ninth even though he's over 100 pitches, right?

I'd like to see Brown get hit in the mouth with one of his cannonballs.

Yes

Edit- With the day off, the Cardinals could get by until next weekend with only 4 starters.  Wacha's next start should be Friday.  Let Gomber start Friday and push Wacha back to Saturday.

From what I understand, Verizon - which is Comcast's only competition in our town - is just as bad.

Yep. Also, his "wish came true", i.e. - that the Pirates would change pitchers and do everything possible to extend Wacha's wait in the dugout. I understand no team wants to be no-hit, but he came off like kind of a dick IMO.

That's what I've heard.  I think AT  & T is the only other cable option in Memphis and, according to my daughter, it's just as bad.

If I wanted bore everyone here to tears and send my self into deep depression, I'd elaborate on what I think about the world of commerce.  But I'm going to do something more cheerful, like watch the Weather Channel or some ID programs for a couple of hours.

I used to try to give him some slack because he had to call about a decade of really bad baseball before the Pirates became respectable, but he's become another one of those broadcasters who's ego for whatever reason seems to inflate when the team wins.
The worst announcer with that trait was Gil Santos, who used to do pxp for the Patriots. He started singing "We are the Champions" after the Patriots "won" their first Super Bowl.

We used to have a telecommunications provider called RCN around here. Their niche was supposedly providing faster internet speed for a fraction of the price of Comcast or Verizon. The ownership of the paper I used to work for being as thrifty as it is, the company subscribed to RCN and it seemed like there were daily problems with the connection. But it's not like a newspaper needs to be connected to the internet.
I also heard RCN's residential cable television package was limited. One of the reasons I stay with Comcast is because it's the only cable TV provider that carries the Pac 12 Network, and I can't afford to miss any ASU football games, especially now that the P.T. Barnum of football coaches is in charge of the program.

It's available here, but it's a pain in the ass You have to have a house with what, enough southern (?) exposure to get the signal from the satellite? Our houses are right on top of each other here. And the wind coming off the water is wicked and it changes the angle of the dish, if it doesn't blow it off your roof. We had Direct TV for about a year at our old house and I couldn't wait to get rid of it.

I had a feeling the New England weather might be an issue. I’ve had DirecTv for close to the last 20 years, with the exception of a couple of years we had AT&T U-verse. I love DirecTv, but I have a completely clear shot to the south. Our neighborhood is only about 10 years old. No one has a tree taller than 10 feet.

You nailed it.  If I weren't sharing the budget with a woman, I'd not have a t.v. in the house.  Right now, all I watch are Cardinal games (and can barely stomach the broadcasts), pre-1980 westerns, and reality shows where someone who needs killing gets killed by someone who doesn't deserve to live.

I watch - probably in order of preference - baseball, hockey, NCAA football, Game of Thrones, Survivor, soccer and the news.
I tried to get into Westworld, but the plot lines have become so damn confusing I think I'm finally going to have to give it up.
And I like bad movies. We showed up late to a party on Memorial Day because I wouldn't get in the shower until "Con Air" ended. Is there a better moment in the history of cinema than when Cyrus the Virus' head gets crushed?
