Not sure ive ever seen anyone catch a ball off the wall with there back against it like that.

I don’t think I have either that was so completely with his back to the wall. I know I’be seen some that were slightly off to one side.

Does anyone recall whether Gerry Davis was the ump who threw Matheny out of a game because Matheny complained about the ump leaning on him too much when he was trying to receive a pitch?

I would imagine Oquendo told him to break on contact. But I doubt we’ll ever know.
