6/25 GC

Some really nice work by Gant against a lineup that's been murdering the ball.
That being said, which reliever gets the L tonight?
I'm going with Cecil.

Rain delay counted me out.

Once the game got going, it moved along despite Gant's occasional wildness. His pitch count was pretty low for a guy who walked four or five hitters.
I fear tonight's game could be a bloodbath.

Re: 6/25 GC

What the hell?  Did AP black ball me again?

For me, this thread did not appear last night or this morning, on either my desktop or my iPad.

Fortunately, I have an alternative.  Even though it's on ESPN, I wanted to watch at least some of the College World Series.  A good time to pass on the Cardinals game.  But Martinez will probably pitch a perfect game tonight.

Re: 6/25 GC

There's little chance they play this one tonight without some delay.  It started raining about 4-5:00 this morning, and since about 10:00 it's rained an hour, stopped for an hour, rained for an hour, and so on.  The current Weather Channel forecast has a 60% chance of rain at 6:00, 80% at 7:00, dropping to 35% at 8 and 9, but back to 65% at 10 and 85% at 11.  Plus, there's been a fair amount of lightning throughout the day.

A day/night doubleheader tomorrow seems a lot more likely.

Read an artical on msn today about how to fix sunday night baseball.  Suggestion was, dont talk about the game at hand and show highlights from around the league.  Thoughts?  😕🔫

Interesting idea but I'd have to see what they mean...would the featured game be in the background/split screen and commented on when something happens, while highlights are being run in front/alongside? Anyway, the article may have hit on the main issue: unlike football, one Sunday game just isn't a big enough event, especially when other shows are on. Perhaps making it a "today in MLB"-type show would bring in more fans, at least for one round of highlights. Some of them might even stick around if the featured game is decent.

Re: 6/25 GC

That was the idea of it.  Im not interested.  I agree with the second point of the article, baseball is purely regional.

Re: 6/25 GC

This is a serious discussion.  I thought AP’s original comment was dripping with sarcasm until I read the follow-ups.

I’ve lived too long.
