From the Cardinals website
Reyes will pitch one more rehab start on Thursday and is expected to start Tuesday against the Brewers.
Martinez began a throwing program yesterday, and may require a rehab start before returning to MLB.
Once Martinez returns, and assuming everyone is healthy, Weaver, Flaherty and Reyes are competing for 2 spots.
Wainwright had some sort of non-invasive procedure on his elbow trying to locate the source of his pain (here's a hint--2000 innings pitched at the major league level might be the source.
Lyons should return at any time. He made a rehab appearance Monday which is believed to be his last.
Gregerson hasn't started throwing
Kelly may return Saturday when he's eligible to come of the DL
Leone remains out indefintely
Molina still has "a ways to go" in his recovery. He sees the doctor on Thursday, but has been largely on bed rest since the injury.

Damn. I had also forgotten about Leone (in addition to Bowman). .
Actually, forgotten is being charitable. I didn't even think to check the 40 man roster.
Thinking ahead to Knizer, I'm trying to recall the name of the Oakland catcher from the ealy 70's who played a lot of games at first. It may have been the guy who held Templeton under the shower after he gave the "eat me" sign to the crowd.
Yep. Gene Tenace.

Yep. Gene Tenace.
Tenace actually played a pretty big role in the Cardinals 1982 World Series win. He was the RH platoon with Porter most of that season.

Gene Tenace has as many World Series championship rings as Henry Aaron, Willie Mays and Roberto Clemente, combined.
Chew on that for a minute.

The asshole who authored this doesn't seem to be bothered by the facts.
I guess Fowler will soon be going somewhere else so that he can have two more great seasons (I forget the word the writer used) like he had with the Cubs.

A couple of sharp jabs in Matheny's direction there:
"5. If there is an issue with Fowler’s morale, perhaps Fowler would be rejuvenated by a major shakeup that would include the dismissal of Matheny and batting coach John Mabry. But I doubt that franchise chairman Bill DeWitt Jr. or Mozeliak would give Matheny the boot just to appease Fowler.
"9. I think Mozeliak should be ticked off about other things more than Dexter Fowler. One example: If I supervised a baseball operation and organization that has banked much of its future on a treasure trove of young pitching, I probably would want to find a manager that’s adept at, well, you know … handling pitching. Unless, of course, the bosses think it was swell to see a roasted Luke Weaver being left in the game for more punishment (and runs allowed) in a marathon 35-pitch fifth inning against Atlanta on Saturday. Even by Matheny’s standards, this was alarmingly irresponsible."

I believe the author is what is known as a "fanboy" in internet parlance.
