Next time you’re lamenting the Dexter Fowler contract, remember the Reds are paying Homer Bailey $21M this year, and owe him $48M the next 2 seasons. 😂😂😂

He's 1-12 with a 6.17 ERA, which is a better ERA than he's posted the past two years.
Since he signed the contract in 2014, he's 18-40, with half those wins coming in one season. He hasn't pitched more than 100 innings since 2014.
The Reds essentially paid him $100 million on the basis of two no-hitters.
This is what ESPN wrote in the story about Bailey signing his contract: "With Johnny Cueto, Mat Latos, Mike Leake, left-hander Tony Cingrani and Bailey, the Reds have a rotation that can be kept together for several years."
Cueto was traded to Kansas City in 2015, then signed with the Giants during that off-season. He underwent TJ surgery a month ago and may not pitch again until 2020, according to CBS Sports.
Leake was traded to the Giants in 2015, of course signed that off-season with the Cardinals, who traded him to Seattle last year for international bonus money and a guy who is still in Single A. He's 8-8 with a 4.02 ERA for the Mariners this year, but hasn't won a game since June 23.
Cingrani never made it as a starter in Cincinnati, ended up in the bullpen and saved 17 games for the Reds in 2016, before be lost the job to Rasiel Iglesias. He was traded in 2017 to the Dodgers for Scott Van Slyke - who never played an inning for the Reds - and a minor leaguer. He's currently on the 60-day DL.
Latos was traded to the Marlins before the 2015 season and pitched for four other teams, all of whom undoubtedly celebrated when they released him. He's now pitching in the Can Am League, where he continues to be a prick.

Martinez is the most awkward outfielder I've ever seen.

Unless Homer Bailey throws 14 shutout innings after this, his already voluminous ERA is going to rise.

David Weathers always reminded me of Shrek.
This is before your time, but there was a journeyman first baseman in the '70s named Lee May who had so much movement at the plate he made Martinez seem like a Bhuddist. He was one of the players the Reds sent to Houston for Joe Morgan. It was a bad trade for the Astros, but he could hit.
Hunter Pence is a herky-jerky guy, but I wouldn't say he's unathletic.

I was going to ask if he forgot Chris Duncan.
Or the few games Adams played in the outfield.

If the Reds score seven or more, does Dixon come out for the bottom of the ninth?

Never overestimate the Reds' bullpen.
