Nor do I. And I sure as hell don't like the line-up, defensively, that they have sent out there behind Flaherty.

This seems like a tlr random name from a hat day game after a short turn around lineup.

May want to use someone other than Jose Martinez the next time you load the bases with no one out.

Shildt got a long term contract and has gone in matheny mode. Maybe that isnt exactly fair but norris has been slipping and so has hicks. Imo the most trust worthy bullpen pitcher is martinez.

I don't understand why Hudson isn't the closer at this point. Except for one bad outing in Denver, he's been practically perfect in a relief role. It's getting tougher to watch Hicks pitch. He usually escapes, but not after putting at least a couple of guys on base.

Bullpen is becoming allergic to throwing strikes.

Funny, because when he was pitching yesterday I was thinking that Martinez was one of the guys I trust the least.
I guess it's in the eye of the beholder.
I do think both Hicks and Norris are showing signs of fatigue, probably due to overuse earlier in the year. I'd probably agree with Artie and give Hudson a chance at closing a game or two.

I grudgingly admire Norris because his attitude is "I've got two good pitches and one shitty one, and you're going to have to hit one of the good ones if you want to get on base." Ray King had the same attitude. I just wish he hadn't thrown the shitty one to David Ortiz in the 2004 World Series.
Norris' sin yesterday wasn't giving up the home run to Harper, it was walking Eaton to lead off the inning. That might as well have been a home run, too.

Most of what you guys have written is something I can't argue with. Frankly, however, I was hoping that they would shut down Hudson for the rest of the season. It looks to me like he is showing the effects of a good number of innings at Memphis and a lot of high intensity appearances with the big club. I'd also shut down Flaherty and Hicks for the rest of the season and sacrifice the attendance.

They’re currently in a playoff spot and you want to shut down a quarter of the pitching staff???
