Well, that doesn't sound promising. Martinez was sent for a second opinion on his troublesome right shoulder last week, but the results aren't yet known. The Cardinals should provide an update at some point today, but this isn't trending in a positive direction.”

The important thing is , what color is his hair this week .

Heard them say this morning that he received a platelet-rich injection in the shoulder and his evaluation was pushed back a week.  If I'm correct, that means his next evaluation will be in the 2nd week of March.

There is now a lengthy story about it in the PD but I'm not allowed to get the full story right now.

Sure, blame Martinez's shoulder injury on the media.

The Mets announced that Nimmo has temporarily been moved to the DH (Dehydrated Hurler) slot, as he's been nudged from his regular lineup spot by journeyman Sal Monella.

I understand the Mets also have a Lithuanian prospect named Gastro Enteritis who can really run.

Very good.  Thanks for posting, Artie.

I do have a couple of questions.

1  Are grade school English classes no longer being taught the use of possessive pronouns with gerunds and other verbals?
2.  Is Jay also going to bat right handed to honor M.J.?

1. I've given up. It's just easier to use the common vernacular and be one of the gang than it is to write properly and risk being called an elitist.
2. When I posted that article this morning, there was a picture of Jon Jay accompanying it. And the link to the video of Jordan doesn't work.

Here is a pretty good explanation with an example of why it matters:

I am, however, leaning toward Artie's resignation.  I only wish I could.

Never heard of the term and, if I'm being honest, I don't know that I would have ever ascribed the meanings to the incorrect sentences that the author indicates I should have ascribed.

A gerund is a verb that acts like a noun. Most gerunds end in -ing. You could say "Miss Smith is a good fuck," but the highfalutin way of saying it is "Fucking Miss Smith is good." These days, it would be more common to hear someone say "Miss Smith fucks good."
As opposed to "Miss Smith is fucking good," with fucking used as an adjective. Although if you say "Miss Smith is fucking well," fucking becomes the noun and well becomes the adverb. And adverbs are another fucking can of worms all-fucking-together.
Man, I should have been a fucking English teacher.

Re: 2019 Spring Training Thread

Not that gerunds and Ms. Smith aren't excellent topics, but let's talk baseball

Flaherty struck out 9 in 4 innings (including 7 in a row)

Hicks struck out 4 in an inning

Reyes made his spring debut.  He was wild, walking 2 and giving up a run

I have only seen a little bit of the games but the offense really seems anemic.  Today is falling right in line.

I'm recording the game so I can watch it tonight. Now I don't have to.

Sorry about that, I didn't realize they were televising any of the games during the week.

For those who don't have it recorded, here are Flaherty's 9 strikeouts

Nasty slider in the dirt that Pena didn't block

Here's video of Hicks' 4 strikeouts.  103 mph fastball on the first one and sliders on the other 3.
