Is 6:45 the new thing?

Damn, it’s good to have things in their place.
Who was the George they were talking about?

How many more hapless at bats does Fouler have to have before O'Neill becomes the regular rightfielder?

"Who was the George they were talking about?"
A hitting instructor who worked with McCarver when he came up to the big leagues.
Listening to Brad Thompson for four games makes you really appreciate how good McCarver is behind a microphone.

I don't think I've ever seen Rick Honeycutt smile.

Carpenter draws a nice walk.

I was listening to a lot of those games around that time but I can’t think who the hell they are talking about

That would probably be George Kissel. He supposedly wrote the book on the “Cardinal Way.” He was in the organization forever.

It wasn't Kissel. McCarver said the guy ended up being a hermit - his word. McCarver said he mentioned the guy's name when he was broadcasting with WPIX in the '80s, the guy called him and that was the last he ever heard from him.

McCarver at 80% (about where he is now) is in a different league from Thompson.
Luke Voit hit his 3d HR tonight.

Yea. I heard that part and realized it wasn’t Kissel.
That was 1961 and McCarver indicated that phone call years later was the last he heard of him.

My dad asked me last year why the Cardinals got rid of Voit. I told him it's because the only defensive position he can play is first base and the incumbent (at the time) first baseman runs the team.

Never mind me. I was helping Madison edit a paper and took a stab.
Kissel was a good dude though.
I’ll say this—there haven’t been many people I’ve met affiliated with the organization who weren’t decent people. At least among the non-scarf wearing members.
Yea. I heard that part and realized it wasn’t Kissel.

It also hurt about that he was right handed. He’d probably still be with the team if he was left handed, but he wasn’t just behind Carpenter, he was also behind Martinez.
Pretty sure Voit’s brother graduates from West Point this year.

I love it. 630 would be better.
They talked about it last night. Said it was to get kids to the ballpark while school was still in. Gets them home earlier and me to bed earlier

I don’t think I’m ever going to get used to this idea that we should be excited that a starter makes it thru 5 innings

WTF was that???
That would be our MVP Candidate playing third.

He was at his best when he was with WOR. Up to that point, you really had to suffer through the NBC national broadcasts with Garagiola telling the same Yogi Berra stories over and over, or the ABC version with Keith Jackson - who was as disinterested in baseball as he was interested in football - and Howard Cosell openly rooting for the Orioles.
McCarver was like nothing you'd heard before, at least from a baseball analyst. He was the first broadcaster I heard who would tell you why something happened rather than simply what happened. And all this while he was in the booth with Ralph Kiner, who might be the worst play-by-play guy ever not named Thom Brennaman.

You know what would get the kids home even earlier? If Hudson figured out he isn't facing the '27 Yankees and started throwing some fucking strikes.

Agree with that.

Saturday's game was almost unwatchable because it was played at such a slow pace. This one isn't much better,
