Re: Trece de Abril GC

Should have pinch hit for with the bases loaded in the sixth. Five scoreless from Waino was a gift.

Re: Trece de Abril GC

I know you don’t have the Cardinals feed, but I don’t know that I’ve ever heard an announcer gush as much over a play where the outfielder got a glove on the ball but didn’t catch it and then made a throw that didn’t get anyone out. If Bader has made either play I think McLaughlin would have nutted in his pants.

Definitely one of the most entertaining. This whole season has actually been very entertaining.

My favorite part was when David asked Wentworth "What was the plan?"
"The plan was you."
Second best part was when Julia told Wardog to shut up.

Obviously a lot of what happens ends up on the cutting room floor. But that’s 2 episodes in a row where I was certain Wentworth would play her idol just in case and 2 straight episodes where she felt safe enough to not do it.

You tipped me off, but when there were still 15 minutes left in the show when they took the commercial break before tribal, I knew it was either something epic, or Reem produced an Uzi and offed everyone.

I think McLaughlin is warm for Bader. He's not the only one. Even Sheryl, who watched the game with me on Wednesday, said, referring to Bader: "Ooooh. He's handsome."

Madison has a huge Bader crush.

I think I mentioned that Bob was coming home to surprise Michele and Madison for the weekend. There’s no doubt that no one misses Bob more than Michele, but I think the happiest to see Bob when he comes home is our younger dog. He’s a 90 pound mix of probably boxer and Rhodesian ridgeback. He was so excited to see Bob he ran and jumped at him from about 5 feet catching Bob off guard and knocking him on his ass. It was pretty damn funny and a whole lot of cute.

Dogs are awesome.

When Zach came home for Thanksgiving, one of his friends dropped him off. Baxter fancies himself as the ultimate guard dog, even though he's a total sissy. So when Baxter sees this dark, shadowy figure stepping out of an SUV, he charges out of the house.. until the moment he recognizes Zachary's scent and he starts slobbering over him like a tween girl starstruck by the member of a boy band.

Our younger dog, Duke, has some  guard dog training or instincts. He’s a rescue, so we don’t know his background. But when he starts playing, he goes for your pant cuffs and he’ll get it in his mouth and use his front paw to trip you. Then he grabs either your pant cuff or sock to pull you so you can’t get up.

The only problem is, he has terrible separation anxiety. If we leave him out while we’re gone he will either chew something he shouldn’t or knock over the trash can and dig in the trash. So we have to put him in a kennel when we’re gone which makes him a fairly ineffective guard dog.

Thank goodness Kadri took that stupid major penalty. After the Leafs made it 3-1, Rask's sphincter started tightening.

I thought the same but you dont take a veteran out throwing a no hitter, in the 5th and with a low pitch count.

Best thread of the year.  Forgive me if you are familiar with the story of Old Drum, but I don't think the legal profession ever had a finer hour than the summation provided by future U.S. Senator from Missouri, George Vest:

Whenever one of out dogs reaches 11, I'm grateful for every day.  Right now we have a little Blue Heeler mix who was diagnosed with terminal cancer last July and given only a month to live.  It's a real joy to see her climb down from a bed and wag her tail every morning.  We are now at the point that we usually have to find something she'll eat after running through various options of dog food and treats throughout the day.  But she still has the strength to bark the mailman, any cat that is within view of a front window, any bobcat or deer that has come near the back fence, and any car that dares to come near turning into our cove.
I know she is in quite a bit of pain because of the way she begs for stomach rubs but tries to state out of the way (most of the time) of the other three who are much bigger.  Still, she seems to enjoy life too much to force the end.

That's awesome.
I once saw a bumper sticker that read: "I just want to be the person my dog thinks I am."
Sadly, I almost never am.

I'm sure you have given her a great life.
I never had a dog growing up. My wife had to talk me into getting one. He's a pain in the ass. He doesn't like loud noises, and he doesn't like adult men, especially ones with dark hair and low voices. He loses his shit any time the mailman comes onto the porch.  He barks at anything that moves. He doesn't like to be left alone, so we have to put him in a doggy day care we can't nearly afford especially with a college tuition bill. And I can't imagine life without him.

Our oldest dog is a boxer that just turned 12.  We've had him since he was 8 weeks old, meaning we got him when Bob was 6 and Madison 3. Luckily, he hasn't had any serious health conditions. He gets these little fatty tumors that he'll occasionally knock or scratch off that bleed a little and then ooze for about a week causing his hair to fall out in the spot where the tumor was, but the vet says there's nothing cancerous about them.  So other than sporting a couple of bald spots, and except for being as stubborn as you might expect a 12 year old dog to be, he's doing pretty well.

The other one absolutely adores the kids. We weren't supposed to keep him, we actually brought him home as a foster dog from one of the local rescues. But when we got the call that a family was considering adopting him, Bob broke down. We ended up adopting him the next day. When Bob is home, the dog sleeps in Bob's room as if he's guarding Bob. When Bob isn't home, he sleeps with Madison. He's 90 pounds of almost pure muscle, so I'd hate to be the human that decided to try something with one of the kids.  At heart, though, he's a big baby.  But he's got a great personality--it's almost like he has a sense of humor.  When Bob came home Saturday, Duke tackled him, then he went for Bob's sock, eventually pulling it off of Bob's foot (without ever biting Bob). After he got the sock, he went and laid on his dog bed with the sock between his paws wagging his tail. If Bob approached as if he intended to retrieve his sock, Duke would play growl, wait until Bob got close and run off with the sock.  When Bob stopped chasing him, he'd come back to his dog bed and repeat the process until Bob finally caught him.  But he's really smart, and the second you tell him to drop whatever he has, he'll drop it, sit down and let you have it.  We've had him for almost 5 years, so I'd guess he's 6 years old, but he still thinks he's a big puppy--especially with the kids.

This was taken shortly after we brought Duke home
