Hudson vs. Hernandez

The first base umpire is the same guy who missed the pickoff at second last night. And I think he was behind the plate at Wrigley on Saturday, during that game when both teams were having issues with the strike zone.

I was watching Was/CHW online because I have Corbin on my fantasy team. Chicago has 2 on, 2 out out and a 1-2 count on the batter. 2 of the next 3 pitches were in the K box, and the batter walked, losing the bases. The first 2 pitches to the next batter were also in the K box and both were called balls. At 2-0, Corbin grooved one down the middle and it was hit for a grand slam.
MLB cannot continue to allow home plate umpires to embarrass themselves and the game when the technology exists that shows how bad they are.

Are they trying the automated strike zone in the minors someplace?

I think so. Or maybe it was an independent league. But I thought I remember reading it was being used somewhere.

Buck and Smoltz talked about this on Saturday. Apparently, the technology "isn't quite there."

Maybe it’s just coincidence, but the team is much more entertaining when Carpenter doesn’t play

There is a 0.001% chance that the “technology” could be worse than Angel Hernandez, Laz Diaz, Phil Cuzzi, Joe West and a long list of other umpires.

And much better in the field. Munoz made two plays in a row to start the bottom of the sixth that Carpenter doesn't make. The score was 3-1 at the time, and if those two guys get on, Hudson probably comes out and the game changes profoundly.

I have no idea what the technology is. Historically, the issue has always been getting the machine to distinguish between the ball and the catcher's mitt.

Wonder what their record is with him in vs out of starting lineup.
