Supposedly, Mikolas made an adjustment after watching video of himself during the All-Star break. So what the hell is the Cardinals' pitching coach watching?

"Cardinals: INF Matt Carpenter, returning from a bruised right foot, was 0 for 4 with two strikeouts in six innings at third base on Wednesday night in his second injury rehabilitation game for Triple-A Memphis on Wednesday night."
So he's pretty much back to the form he had before he got hurt.

He has had 2 average starts and one great one. Not sure that id qualify that as having figured it out.

I listened to this broadcast. The article overstates how much of a big deal the announcers made of it. They segued into and spent much more time talking about an incident in the early '90s involving the Pirates when Walk was on the team and the Dodgers. Apparently, one of the Pirates stole second and third with a 5-run lead late in the game. Lasorda flipped his lid and the Dodgers beaned the batter, who had to be carried off on a stretcher
I don't think Munoz or anyone in else is in danger of being in violation of any "unwritten rule" in the fourth inning, especially in this era when offense is so prevalent. Let's not forget the Pirates ended up scoring eight runs themselves. It's not like the Cardinals ran a fake punt with a 42-0 lead with two minutes left in the fourth quarter here.

I dont really believe in any of the "unwritten rules" that limit offense.
In football you can put in your 3rd string running back. You give him touches. You also are running him in a clear run situation. So you are not going to likely break one loose. And you accomplish something by killing the clock.
In basketball you can put bench guys on and run the shot clock down. Again you are accomplishing something by killing the clock. Still, those guys are not shooting to miss, nor should they be.
In baseball and especially in a system that rewards numbers, why would guys tank. Guys are not going to purposely make outs. Munoz is playing for a roster spot still. You dont like it, cover the base. And in an unrelated note, bunting to end a no hitter is fine to.

Not for nuthin', but in college I played in a game where we built a big lead by the third or fourth inning. Our leadoff hitter stole second, and holy hell broke out. The other team's first baseman started yelling at our dugout about how bush league we were, then he went after out first base coach and a brawl nearly broke out. The other team made a huge comeback and we ended up losing the game.
The only unwritten rule that I would abide by is not bunting to break up a no-hitter or perfect game late in the game, unless it's say, a one or two run game.

I would tend to agree with you, but with one caveat—if the defense is over shifted to one side and the hitter wants to drop a bunt to the open side, I don’t care about the score. Even in a lopsided game, you can bitch if a guy takes advantage of your defensive alignment.

Imo bunts are not cheap. It take as much and probably more talent to drop a well placed bunt and beat the throw to first. I dont see how a pitcher who loses a no hitter to a bunt would be cheated vs say a seeing eye single.
