9/2 Game Crap

Beede vs. Waino.

Although Beede's a righty, Carp isn't starting.

If Wong doesn't win a Gold Glove, it will be an injustice.

Re: 9/2 Game Crap

The Mariners keep plunking Rizzo, and he's getting mad.
Don't stand on top of the plate, asshole.

Re: 9/2 Game Crap

If a guy gets plunked on a pitch over the plate, is it a foul or an HBP?
A great outing from Wainwright.

Re: 9/2 Game Crap

The only two centerfielders who make the catch Pillar made are in this stadium.

With the expanded rosters, they should only let him pitch at home.

He seems to be above the rest.  Bader would be in the conversation if he had more playing time.  Goldschmidt is hard to judge because he is a normal type of good.

I feel like they could have gotten both of them if they had just asked, but then I don't know if you have the prospects to also land Goldschmidt.
I don't know what they're going to do with Ozuna. He's been good, but I think they were counting on a reasonable facsimile of the 2017 version. Someone is going to pay Ozuna. Given the Cardinals' penchant for parsimony, they'll probably let him walk and give O'Neill every chance to win the LF job.

The Cardinals have gone from having the most errors in the league this year to, I think, the fewest. Goldschmidt is a big part of that because he's so good at saving bad throws.

Ozuna might get paid, but I’m not convinced it’s going to be a crazy amount. He’ll be tied to draft pick compensation, and that tends to depress the market a bit.

I’d be stunned if the Cardinals re-sign him, but they should. With Goldschmidt, Ozuna and DeJong hitting 3 - 4 - 5, the lineup seems dangerous. Without Ozuna, they’ll force DeJong back into the 4 spot where he won’t provide enough protection to Goldschmidt and they’ll probably put Molina #5 where he has business hitting. But O’Neill won’t be the reason. They’ll tell the fans that they can’t possibly re-sign Ozuna because it would block Dylan Carlson, and they’ll sell Carlson as a perennial MVP candidate.

Last time I checked you can play 3 outfielders meaning both Carlson and Ozuna could be in the same outfield. But I don’t think there’s any chance they’ll pay Ozuna.

And keep in mind it’s unlikely they upgrade the rotation. The spin is already in full force. Wainwright’s home ERA probably earns him another 1 year deal, and Martinez wants back in the rotation. I expect any of Miller, Gallegos or Helsley to get a chance to close.

Good point about Carlson.
