Flaherty vs. Pudge Jr.

I'm no longer getting local commercials on the Extra Innings feed, which is disappointing in the respect that the Imo's Pizza jingle is among my favorite songs, but during the commercial breaks MLB runs three promos - one touting the personalities of MLB Network, another promoting Mike Trout and the third touting Javy Baez. The first is benign, the second is as bland as the player's personality and the third is mostly in Spanish, except for a part at the end where Baez refers to himself as "The Magician."

Pretty sure Carpenter doesn't make either of those plays.

Got to pull him. To many pitches

How hot is it there? Flaherty is sweating like Nixon.

Is Fowler's walkup song "It's a Hard Knock Life?"

I think if he had gotten the last hitter quickly he would have made it a hard decision.

I know the Giants aren't the '27 Yankees, but Flaherty was in total command all night. Even Yastrzemski's hit was a chunky single off the handle.
More importantly, this is a game he would have found a way to lose two months ago. Kid has really turned a corner.

I like their shot of the playoffs. Winning the division is key to making it out of the second round. Still, its time to start thinking about not gassing guys. Flaherty is the only way they win a 5 game series.

Looks like there will be no help from the Mariners or the Asstros tonight.

I think their pitching stacks up with any other team's in the NL. Their hitting is so erratic, though. They got dominated tonight by a guy with an ERA over 5.00 who got banished to the bullpen and spent a month in the minors. They need Goldschmidt and DeJong to not slump in the playoffs.

The good thing about their hitting is it can out score any team if they are on. Like always, just a matter of being on for the playoffs. Seems to me like you cant wear out hitters like you can pitchers. With the mix and match that shildt has going on position players should be okay. I just worry using the same recipe every night on the pitching end will cause a drought.
