Re: 7/16 GC

Could have used another run, but good to see them make Strasburg throw a lot of pitches.

5 strike outs already.  Like you said, at least he is having to pitch for them.

They have something at the ballpark.  Looks like outfield has several patches.

Re: 7/16 GC

Thank you ozuna.

I wonder if the cards running will continue.  Seems like they picked up on something in that regards.

There was a soccer game last week. Stupid sport. Can't even use your hands.

The seem to pick certain matchups. Gomes isn't Johnny Bench. They've done that to a couple of other catchers. I think Caratini with the Cubs and they even ran wild on Tucker Barnhart one game, but I think that had more to do with who was pitching for the Reds that night.

It has been highly effective.  They have ran at will in those circumstances.  Wong is like 23-2 in sb chances.

I'm not expecting any, but at least those two teams haven't packed it in like the Pirates. The Reds have Sonny Gray going against Darvish tonight, and the Padres have Paddack going up against Woodruff, who is coming off the IL.
The Mets and the Phillies are probably done. They're both 5 games in back of the Cubs for the second WC spot.

They may have as many speedy guys as they did back in the '80s with the Whiteyball teams. Edman and Bader are blazing fast. O'Neill can run, and Wong as you point out has become a savvy runner. Fowler would be one of the fastest guys on any other team in the league. They don't have a Vince Coleman and they don't steal bases the way
Whitey's teams did because the sport has changed, but this is a fast, fast team.

Re: 7/16 GC

Yikes. The Pirates suddenly have a lot more to worry about than lack of effort on the field.

I forgot about Thomas. He's fast, too. And Knizner has good speed for a catcher.

Too bad the Patriots can't use a closer. Still, they might sign him as the "best available reprobate".

When the Patriots signed Brown last week, their fans were saying "As soon as he puts one toe out of line, he's gone." A day later, the rape allegation was made public. I don't recall hearing anyone I know who roots for the Patriots calling for Brown's release. Apparently, their usually-malleable standards apply to toes only in this instance.
Now, Patriots' fans are bleating "Innocent until proven guilty!" Which, I'm sure, is the exact same thing they'd be saying if he still played for the Stealers or the Raiders.

109sb to 26cs.  Imo it is more than speed.  I think the coaching staff is doing a much better job.
