    Does anyone else find it odd that the Cubs would announce Maddon's "non-return" (firing?) just before his last game?

    Dare we breathe a sigh of relief? Maybe even hope Flats can leave this game early and not have the bullpen blow it? Assume Flats is slated for Game 1 on Thursday?

    If the Cardinals put this game away and win the division, they should vote a playoff share to the Rockies.

    Forty-six pitches through five innings. I love how Flats has put those earlier efficiency issues to bed and nailed the bedroom door shut. I can't remember seeing a pitcher mature so quickly during the space of one season like he has.

    I believe he has a sub 1 era after the all star break.  Thats like holy fuck level
