Mikolas?
Really?

I assume this is a days of rest reason?

You kind of have to go with Hudson, don't you?

I got nothing. Hudson had the better season and has better road numbers. Only thing Mikolas has is he isn’t a rookie, but it’s not like he has playoff experience.
I would have started Hudson

I guess the argument you make is Mikolas is rested, he's a veteran and his last start in Chicago was a good one. Hudson struggled with control when he pitched against the Cubs in Chicago, but as Ron Darling said, that was all about a young pitcher making his first start at Wrigley Field with the wind blowing out. He's not going to have to deal with any of that nonsense in Atlanta.
Mikolas' home/away splits are dramatic - BAA .247 home/.297 away; OPS .674/.848; ERA 3.01/5.40; WHIP 1.045/1.415.
Hudson hasn't given up more than three earned runs in a game since July. I'm stunned Hudson isn't starting.

I think the veteran point is well taken. Game 1 is high stress, and maybe someone's got Rick Ankiel on his mind.

Hadn't thought of the Ankiel factor. Good point.

Just the subtraction of carp is good news. Anything wong does will be a bonus.

I thought Shildt might play Carpenter because of his experience, but Edman is at third base batting second today.

An inauspicious start ...

Get someone up!

The guy who is probably in there because he never walks anyone walks the first two hitters ...

If anyone is watching, what happened on Donaldson's ground ball to Wong?

Should have started Carpenter.

This is a problem.

The Cardinals announced that Wainwright will start Game 3 and Hudson will start Game 4, if there is one.

I had forgotten how annoying Atlanta crowds are.

I must have missed it when the Cardinals brought back Matheny to manage in the playoffs.

Chop that, assholes.

That ball went a long, long way.

I wonder if they think Hudson’s late season control problems are a sign of fatigue.
