Wacha to the Mets. 1-year, $3 million base with $7 million in incentives.
I dont see a turn around in his career.
I'm almost relieved that he's no longer with the Cardinals because now I can't get frustrated with him for not being the pitcher he was in late 2013. I always waited for the return of that guy, but you're right, I can't see that happening at this point.
Still, he was good enough to win 17 games in 2015 and was 8-2 before he got hurt in 2018, and if he posts the numbers he had in 2017 (12-9; 4.13 ERA) the Mets will have signed themselves a decent fifth starter on short money.

Id say the cards are looking for a steal. And really the cost shouldnt be to high.

Is he? Carpenter has consistently put his personal need to bat lead off above the needs of the team. I don’t know much about Price, so he may be a horrible person, but Carpenter isn’t a consummate teammate.
My thought was that if Carpenter was gone, it opens up 3rd for Edman. That improves both the offense and defense and saves Edman from having to play 5 positions a week to play 5 games.
Price was pitching pretty well last year until he had his wrist issue. My thought was that Price in the rotation puts Martinez back in the closer role.
Probably a moot discussion. I don’t see the Cardinals taking on a $32M/year contract.

Maybe carp for price makes some sense because of the weight of both contracts. I figured more of a prospect and part of prices contract be picked up.

I'm not going to defend Matt Carpenter, but I'm guessing he wouldn't threaten, say, Al Hrabosky or Mike Shannon in front of his teammates to try to show how tough he is.
Price's "wrist issues" apparently stem from an overindulgence in video games.
What he did to Dennis Eckersley was childish, cowardly and pretentious. I don't want him anywhere near the Cardinals' clubhouse.

Idk how video games hurt ur wrist.
The market for pitchers of prices worth is flooded. Carpenter is probably to much to give.

LOL. That's slightly more plausible. But for $27 million a year or whatever he makes, he could probably hire someone to do that for him.

If madbum goes for 5y 85mill. Thats not a bad deal.

Interesting deal. I see it as a high reward low risk deal. He is probably better than any lefty they would add to miller in the pen and he has potential to be a decent start by the accounts of those who write things.

Wait .. you can use a left-handed pitcher to start a game? Interesting concept.

I thought Mark Mulder debunked that idea.

The MMMM (much-maligned Mark Mulder) certainly did nothing to enhance it.

I'm behind a paywall at the Denver Post, but it looks like Eugene and Oh were a tandem.
