I hope Yadi finishes his career in St. Louis, but don't want to see him rolling out onto the field for 140 games when he's 40-years-old.
The New Guy is obviously more apt to tell Yadi to cop a squat than Matheny was, but it's tough to tell that to a player who is as beloved as and has represented the franchise as well as Yadi has.

The Mets reached an agreement with Pete Alonso, rewarding him for his record setting rookie season by giving him the highest 2nd year player contract in MLB history. $652,500
The league minimum is $563,500. As a 2nd year player, he would have undoubtedly received something more than that. For less than $100K, the Mets decided to reward a young player for a great season. The Cardinals decided to punish theirs for not being happy with their offer.
The Cardinals will probably try to dock players’ salaries due to games missed due to the coronavirus.

The Cardinals are, rightly, being compared unfavorably to the Mets. Let that sink in for a minute.
