Supposedly they want to bring him back on a cheaper deal, but there are already rumblings that they’re going to go really cheap this year because of Covid uncertainty.
You might get your wish AP.

Just think there has to be roster turnover for this team to find a different feel.

I don’t necessarily disagree, but the players that need to go will still be there. Wong wasn’t the problem, but the team will use Covid as an excuse to go cheap.
I talked to Chad the other day. I asked him what does Girsch actually do. His answer is that Girsch analyzes the team’s pitching, offense and fielding relative to other teams in the Central. The Cardinals have abandoned any sense of trying to match teams in the NL East or West. Their goal is simply to be competitive in a bad division.
They need to overhaul the front office more than they need to overhaul the roster.

Wong isnt the problem or solution. If he comes back he comes back. He is a average player and only elevated to that level because of his glove.
Agree on front office. And figure out why the coaching staff excels at making sure the team fundamentally struggles and constructs a lineup under hits.

Wong may not be a superstar, but he’s in the top 5 of MLB second basemen in OBP over the last 2 seasons, he’s won a gold glove and may win another.
I agree, Wong isn’t the solution to a bigger problem, but the team is worse without him. Not to mention if Tommy Edman is now the everyday second baseman, that means Matt Carpenter is now the everyday third baseman. Yippee.

I'd prefer they give carp away. This team needs to suck. Not for draft picks. Just to build a different type of team. They are boring. They cant hit. They cant field. Its unwatchable.

If you have seen the video or read his statement, it’s worth the time. Wong just guaranteed he will always be embraced in St. Louis, no matter what uniform he wears.

I think the cards did well with the trade. I wish they could have had wong on top of that but Tommy will probably do fine at second. Very nice of wong to speak so highly on the way out.
