the biggest risk of all is to take no risks

i'm not saying i think cutting silva, or even signing him in the first place, is a good move or a bad move, but i like the fact the cubs are willing to eat $11.5 million if they think it makes them a better team.  the biggest roster mistake the dewitt cardinals make, imo, is trying to squeeze every dollar out of each contract.  think back to Cement-head, at what point was it obvious to us that the team wasn't going to be successful with him starting every fifth game, and yet how long did tony have to trot him out there for 6 innings?

Cubs cut RHP Carlos Silva, owed $11.5 million

Re: the biggest risk of all is to take no risks

The deal with blowing up earlier in spring troubles me.  Sounds like something the other Carlos would do.  But yeah, I would be on board with bringing him in and seeing what he has if he would agree to a minor league contract that allowed him to get alittle work in and allowed the Cardinals to test drive this rotation for a month.  He is an inning pitcher who had a pretty good 2010.  He has to have something Duncan can work with.
