Jaime gets Jaimmered again.
From the P-D:
Garcia, although he gave up a long, two-run homer to David Wright in the first, was sharp through three innings, throwing 27 strikes out of 39 pitches. But the Mets tagged Garcia for nine hits and the eight runs -- seven of them unearned -- in the home fourth, an inning highlighted by Angel Pagan's long three-run homer to left center.
With the score tied at 3-3, Garcia gave up a two-out bloop hit to Brad Emaus and then second baseman Schumaker booted a grounder by Chris Capuano. Jose Reyes singled to put the Mets ahead and then Pagan connected for the Mets' second multiple-run homer of the day. Five more hits and three more runs would follow in the frame.
In the fourth, Garcia matched his pitch total for the first three innings. He threw 39 pitches, 25 for strikes.
After 17 spring innings in five starts, Garcia, one of the top rookie pitchers in baseball last year, has allowed 37 hits and 24 runs, 15 of them earned."

McCellan has to be a right handed 2011 version of Garcia in 2010. The last thing this team can afford is 5 inning starts from half the staff.

How many times have we read about a player changing his offseason routine in response to 'suggestions' from the coaching staff, only to have on field production go down. Recently I can think of Holliday, Schumaker, Ryan, off the top of my head.
Damn I hope that strength and stamina training, or whatever it was he went through, didn't screw him up.

Did Matt Holliday experience a reduction in production that I'm unaware of?
He had a slow start after working out with Big Mac during the offseason and moving to the AL but he recover by years end. He dropped his high leg kick for awhile.

His wife may have mentioned something to Joe Strauss.

I can't recall whether Cardinals' management advised Ryan to not break his wrist last winter.

In his interview with the post he kind of blamed McGwire with his failings. I believe he said something about how that kind of power hitting doesnt work for him. In fact here is the quote;
"I don't want to throw 'Big Mac' under the bus. I was trying to get better. I tried something new. It wasn't his fault. The stuff he was teaching wasn't wrong or anything. I just think I learned that I'm not strong enough to do some of those things."

This is where Mac's Magic Dust ought to have come in handy ...

Garcia was apparently very good today. Just in time for the regular season.

BTW, thanks, AP. That's twice where you clarified those points for those of us who have apparently not read the same material that you and I have.

You start to wonder whether Boggs is ever going to get it.

I'm know I'm going to regret responding to this, but I read it, and I'd like to think I understood it, at least to the point where someone who says "It wasn't his fault" really means it. Unless, of course, "It wasn't his fault" is some kind of Romulan code for "Mark McGwire is a lousy hitting coach."
