In the past La Russa has liked to team the back-up catcher with a specific starter, when feasible. Not sure if La Russa is resting Molina after the night game, as you notice, or if he watched the respective starts by McClellan and Lohse and decided to try switching Laird's spot in the rotation. Maybe it was both.

The first game of the season worth watching and I can't watch it because of a dispute between AT&T and the Cardinals.
Barry Zito has to be one of, if not the worst free agent signing in the history of sports.

The free EI preview ended and I've been too lazy/cheap to order so far.
Carl Pavano was pretty bad, and I wonder if the D-backs are still paying Russ Ortiz to be the ringer on some company softball team.

Nice pregame ceremony with Posey and an impressive list of five other RsOY, all present. Except for calling the SF fans the best in baseball, I liked what he had to say, especially honoring his wife like that.
