Greene at 2B against the lefty
Yadi gets four hits and takes a seat

So of course Laird gets a hit.
Horrible at bat for Greene. He has to put the ball in play there.

I like the way McClellan sees the curve as a batter.

Craig, Laird, and Greene play. Berkman, Molina, and Schumaker sit (the first two of whom have been hot as hell).
I think this reflects LaRussa's philosophy that you need to win series. Since we've already won the LA series, he sits the guys who he has decided are fragile, Berkman and Molina, and then apparently has a plan that he needs to play Greene once in a while to see if he can cut it. Greene flubs his big chance, and that will probably stick in La Russa's mind more than it ought to.

He fouled off a ton of pitches. Kershaw's had to work hard. LA's bullpen isn't Arizona's, but it'll be good to get to it.

Tagged out by Aaron Miles. Ouch!

They have to play tomorrow, but nonetheless, I don't think he can afford to think like that after a 2-6 start. He can't let the Reds get too far out in front. All the days off make sense on paper. Berkman rests his knees against a lefty, rest Yadi for a day game tomorrow after he kind of got beat up last night, and sit Schu against the lefty.
Goodness gracious. Theriot almost hit one out. At night in Dodger Stadium.

Wasn't there a dumb running play last night, too?

he looks like a batter at the plate. i like the way he watched the curves come in, with his bat on a hair trigger, and then fought off the fastballs. I really thought he was gonna catch up to one of those and get a slam, but kershaw got kind of a generous call on a high inside pitch.

Kershaw: 95 pitches through four.
This is a huge inning for McClellan.

I don't know if that was great base-running by Ethier or Laird falling asleep.

a bit of both. ethier took advantage of what laird gave him.

Laird look like he didn't expect Pujols to throw home.

which would only make sense if he didn't expect to ethier to go.
man are we missing berkman tonight!

the gun says batista is hitting 94 mph.

i think that play with theriot at the plate is still in play: theriot didn't touch the bag and barajas clearly didn't tag him.

Oh, I LIKE Sanchez. This guy might be our future closer. Wow!

He's been doing that regularly. He's been good. Keeps the ball down.

West was in terrible position. Otherwise, he called a pretty good game.

13 hits again. This is amazing. I am not sure I have ever seen a streak of hitting like this.
Sanchez struckout the side and Craig went deep. I believe the box scores showed the Cardinals also stole 3 bases.
